My grandmother taught me to sew at a young age. I am no2 a young adult, hoping to advance my skills past the level of childhood fancy into adult aptitude. Women like you are why I keep going. My grandma is in her mid 80s and starting to slow down now. I can't get quite as much guidance, as she lives far from me, and doesn't sew very often anymore, but every time I pick up a needle or press the peddle of a machine, I think of her. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. Thank you for helping me continue in this long, generational passing of knowledge. Oh. You are also very funny, though I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that :)
I have sewn various things for over 60 years now. I'm always looking for new sewing information, and tonight I hit the jackpot! New-to-me terms: Twiddling Flipping Flopping Donkey Donkey's back Thank you!! Your video has been happily entertaining! Off to see your others now! PS: You forgot Hair Dresser and Stylist in your credits. Lol 😀
Brilliant! I knew the parts needed but you have put it all together and described it so clearly. Thank you thank you so very much. I now feel confident. ❤
Thank you kindly for this amazing video. The explanation was charming excellently paced and the volume was just right. My very first tuck came out beautifully in my opinion and its all thanks to you. I hope you are doing splendid!
Thank you so much for this wonderfully clear and thorough tutorial! I am about to begin a project containing hundreds of tucks so I needed a tutorial that would put my mind at ease, and this was the one that did it. Your cheerfulness and clarity make it seem so achievable!
What a perfect solution to hide that ugly 48" black TV screen! (I would attach a photo if I could figure out how -- take my word for it, the tucks look great!). Jennie, you spoke to my quilt guild in Chula Vista, California in maybe 2006?? I still remember you telling the group that "font makes a difference!" when you were telling us about your books. You were a hoot! Thank you!
Just had my first try ... Really enjoyed doing it so thank you ❤ ... My donkeys were a tad troublesome though, so ditched them and just did an extra back stitch to lock my thread 😂
This was extremely helpful in simplifying a terrifying process (at least to me). Thank you for the tricks and the laughs as well. Very fun and informative!
Simple, yet detailed techniques can turn something into a great piece, very manual feeling and haute couture. Thanks so much. We can feel you enjoy teaching that!
Thank you for your tutorial, very informative and such a joy to listen. You have a beautiful voice and accent and I would love to listen an audiobook read by you 😊
Thanks so much for a wonderful lively video! I never even considered doing this sort of embellishment before and I have thoroughly enjoyed your charming instructions. I will find your web site too!
Oh yes!.. Liked a subscribed... You are a wonderful teacher... I'm doing research to begin quilting! 👍 I have pattern sewn before so.. that's that as far as getting along with a sewing machine, but.. I have to look at more patch work videos where you explain just how to join the squares and applying a binding... ok, whish me luck, And I hope in like a months time I'll be ready to start having bought all my materials. I'm very exited to show you the end result, hope you have Instagram or Facebook. One more thing...I'm an absolute beginner in quilting 🙈😅 and 58 years old 👍👋
Good luck - I am going to do some Zoom classes as well - they may help. Sorry for long delay - I hadn't looked at my channel for ages. Thank you for watching.
You're very entertaining! I am a fashion student currently looking for samples to explore and I think I might buy your book to really help me down the line. Very glad I found this video!
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutorial on PINTUCKS. I know you go into much more than pintucks, but I want to tell you that searching under pintucks I watched at least 12 other videos and none of them came close to yours. You explain so many things that others leave out: the two donkeys, different ways to mark your fabric, sewing in one direction and then the other. I'm grateful I finally found yours (maybe because of the word 'tuck'?) I suggest you change your title to include the word pintuck, so others like me can find you more easily. You are a wonderful teach and you don't go into a bunch of confusing technical detail, for instance, when you say that sometimes the tucks are on the top and sometimes on the bottom (?) when you turn, but not to overthink it (my weakness) but just fold and sew towards the next donkey.
How very kind of you and I am glad that you have found the video helpful. I will add the word pintuck and Yes - I was wrong to omit it. Interestingly a pintuck used to be a fine tuck that you could insert a pin into - hence the name. You can make tucks this size on the machine using a pintuck foot and a twin needle - it has a series of grooves underneath. My first book 'Tuck Textures & Pleats' has a chapter on this. There you are - the teacher in me has to come out!!!
Hi Jennie, I just discovered your channel after I saw one of your manipulated circle panels on Pinterest (the one with the black and white squares in the bottom left of the panel). I’ve subscribed to your TH-cam channel and am watching all of your videos. I’m waiting for an online Zoom class for fabric manipulation. Love your work and your teaching style💕🇨🇦
hahahahaha..been sewing for yrs...never heard of 'donkey'.....so made me smile ..thanks for video..would be great if you could do some close ups once youve done the tucks and the finished piece, as couldnt see very well .i love doing fabric manipulation :) x
Hi! I love Frixion pens but I’m not sure I would use it on fabric. The ink disappears when you put heat on it but it’s visible again in cold temperatures. Great video.
yes I too wouldn't use on fabric - it not only apears when cold - they can damage the glaze on chintz and remove the dye on other materials - they are meant for paper but can be used on fabric with care. Thank you for your comment.
