Congratulations on the new carnivore lifestyle! I just subscribed and this video popped up. I started carne/keto early September and I have lost 40 pounds and feel great! You are right concerning not being hungry all the time like most diets. I'm 72 in the USA and looking forward to seeing more videos! All the best to you sir.
Low carb Pure Blond or Burleigh Bighead if you want a beer. I’ve lost 15 kgs on Keto, then stalled and have put the weight back on, will do it again shortly. Did Carnivore for 3 days, slept better and bounced out of bed in the mornings with no fog. I reckon 90% of my arthritis pain disappeared on Keto. Thanks for the videos.
Well done Norm. We are doing the same. Insulin resistance is the number one cause of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, dementia and like you say inflammation. With the fasting, you are on the right combo. Congrats.❤
Enjoyed that Norm. I’m in the same “boat” as you. I haven’t been able to do any boat maintenance for months now as my left foot swells up every day and I can’t hold a spanner as my knuckles are so swollen and painful 24/7. Where are you buying those beautiful looking steaks. On another note Peters catamaran got hit by lightning in that last big storm here at the well. Took out most of his electrical components including his solar panels. See you in the Well next time you’re here. Cheers Rob
At Coles Rob. I saw Peter's boat last time past. Bugger. Hope he had insurance. The carnivore thing is working well for me. It's worth a try. Might be heading past you Wed. I'll stop and say hi. Cheers mate.
Good stuff Norm , Ive been doing keto / Semi carnivore since June last year was 150kg and in a bad way . now at 100kg pre diabetes has gone , inflammation has gone , Energy levels through the roof , Im doing OMAD ( One Meal A day ) and I never get hungry because carbs / sugar makes you want to eat . A few things I eat everyday is an avocado with every meal as it gives me potassium and heaps of salt . I do eat some foods with carbs but the carbohydrate are mostly fibre so you can eat as much as you want - Broccoli , Brussel sprouts mainly , I wrap them in tin foil with olive oil and they Bake up amazingly . Also a lot of omelettes with cheese and tomato chucked in , Butter is keto and so is cream nothing wrong with eating them as keto is fat not carb . If I ever get a craving for a desert blend frozen berries and cream in a blender for a homemade ice cream it's delicious . I still have beers ( pure Blonde ) and I drink Gin and Tonic . This Diet Changed My Life . The Food you eat needs to be ancestrally appropriate - if they were eating it 10000 years ago it's good , NO PROCESSED SHIT . keep up the good work .
Hi Old Dude lol, me too. I started carnivore 6 months ago for the same inflamatory problem. Ive lost 25kg. A good Chyro told me to take "Benfothiamine" as Drinkers are low in it. Its a fat soluble B1 Thiamin. It only took days for the inflamation to stop. Get a Vitamin B test from Dr, cost $60.
Hey Dude! I’m doing carnivore-ish too for 6 months and the intermittent fasting same as you and have lost 27 LBs in the USA. New sub here. Thanks for all you do!
Wow , good for you for trying this . I'm 68 and just noticing things , wrists , hips , knees starting to play up I live on a boat so I get the importance of looking after myself . Will be interesting to see how you go . I do take Turmeric and find that helps with my joints .
I'm 63 yo from US. In 2017, I went on a Keto style way of eating - I can't seem to call it a diet. High protein, high fat amd low carb. Your body needs some carbs for fuel to function. I lost about 15-20 pounds on a standard style diet then changed to the Keto style and lost another 50-55 pounds. Have kept all but 9-10 pounds off. I do eat a few carbs here and there. It's a very forgiving way of eating. And I eat bread sometimes. Most people I've known thru the years get so serious and if they eat a few things they shouldn't, they give up and gain more than they lost. Don't think of eating a few extra carbs as cheating but as normal. Just a few, not every day or even every meal of a day unless doing a lot of physical exertion. Just discovered your channel. I would love to sail a cat around island hopping. I had a major spine surgery in 2017 - fused spine from C-3 to T-12. So I know what you mean about inflammation. Hope yours continues to improve. Haven't seen your sailing vids yet, but I look forward to sailing with you vicariously. Fair winds and following seas
Thanks for the comments. I am certainly feeling better the way I am eating. Not sure if diet is the correct word. I find if I do eat carbs now, it tends to make me feel a little off. The inflammation relief is unbelievable. Welcome aboard, hope you enjoy exploring some Aussie destinations. Cheers dude.
Something that may be worth adding is Ethical Nutrients High Strength Omega-3 fish oil, it's a liquid so a teaspoon a day is good and being 100% fat works well with carnivore/keto. good for inflammation. I've been low carb/keto since 2012. cheers
can i give you a tip on cooking sauerkraut ? INSTRUCTIONS: Heat oil in frying pan., add bacon pieces or Speck cubes and add onion and sauté slowly until golden. Add sauerkraut and caraway seeds,. Bring to boil and then simmer for at least 30minutes and even up to 1 hour. Stir occasionally, adding more liquid if necessary. (dry white wine works well ) Mix cornstarch in a little cold water ( or add grated potatoes) and slowly add just enough to sauerkraut to thicken sauce. Season with salt and pepper.
Well done. Sounds like a great move. I might do this myself soon. Important to keep up certain vitamins and minerals in the body .... amongst other things to moderate the immune system (like Vit D3) and protect against some viruses (like zinc). Really should test such levels in your blood and not just go wild.
Hi Norm, have you ever done anything on the cost of your lifestyle? Assuming that you own the boat, can you outline the ongoing costs on your 40ft cat?
Yep..a bit lethargic and a little dizzy for a few weeks. I think low on electrolyte. Put 3 teaspoons of Himalayan rock salt in a glass and half fill with water. Leave onight. 2 Table spoons mixed with half glass of tap water in morning helps heaps.
well done we all have to find our lane - do what is sustainable long term - even going back low carb is far better than before - its a lesson that can't be unlearned - best wishes
My understanding is that meat is inflammatory, bad for arthritis. Proteins tend to be acidic and therefore a high protein diet could aggravate arthritis. The key to losing weight is to have a deficit of calories over energy need so that energy comes from stored fat rather than incoming food. So, reduce the amount of food and do some exercise.
Hi Norm, I like your vids too much not to say anything! How can a bloke that could visit the local tip and build a space shuttle out of the junk not be eating vegetables?!! How's your cholesterol? I'd rather keep watching your cruising with your sore wrists than watching hospital episodes! Just have to put my selfish 2 bobs worth in... didn't know you noodled on the guitar.... thats not a neck finger you've lost is it? I had a big month last september and my 80 something tunes were streamed 12,000 times and I made $1.80 ! If you are ever interested, google 'Stoked intro' or 'Surfin' Summer' by Pete Knowles or Carport Gargoyle . 1 minute watery instrumentals you might use. You got the hat, you got the flag, you got the t-shirt, all that's needed is the tattoo and the SONG! The Ballad of Bob McTavish went over well with him too. A really good book he wrote called Stoked. Safe sailing Dude and keep up the great stuff. I'm off for a coffeeeeeeeeeeeee!
Good onya dude. At least I can play the guitar now that I'm pain free. I'm sticking with the diet as long as I'm feeling this good. The heart attack thing has bugger all evidence. We got to be top of the tree by eating meat. We've been peddled bull for last half century about diet. Gotta stick with this while I'm feeling so good.
Ha yep! If it feels good keep doin’ it mantra works! I am the opposite. I am carbs man ,and need to lose 10kg, booze being the main culprit, but if it feels good….😩! Large bowl of cereal for brekky, 2 sandwiches for lunch, rice or pasta and veg for dinner and 2 of 20 minute walks after eating. How many laps of deck is that?! Interesting science experiment, polar opposite diets for weight loss! Oh, and I only eat fish🤣!! Please keep us up to date on your efforts so I can compare ! (and compete ssshhh)

Just got off the hardstand and couldn't have done all that work without carnivore.
What ever works Norm is good. Good that you are able to play again. That has hot to be a plus for ya.
Yeah Peter. A handy man needs his bloody hands.
If you like a beer - Better Beer - has zero sugar, zero cabs and only a few calories - tastes good as well 4.2% alcohol
Doing rum and soda now Dude. It's not bad.

Since starting this, virtually joint pain free, lighter, more energetic.

Feels so much better.
Norm Dr Jason Fung has lots of TH-cam posts - worth a look if u don’t want to buy book 😊
Yep. There is stacks of stuff on Youtoob. Plenty to research dude.
its a sad state of affairs when we have to change some long standing habits, 70 or so seems to be the culprit, I still can't accept 76 is old though
