    What’s the lowest temperature this device will work in? Can it work in sub zero temps?

    Add iron oxide and oxygen free atmosphere and then you can:
    1) store thermal power
    2) deoxidize Iron Ore
    Iron ore production is one of the most energy intensive industries.
    So this would remove that energy use that was removed by solar iron ore reduction.
    Even if only partial reduction is possible that still removes that % of eneergy needed to complete the reduction at the smelter.
