    All the points were great Nate. I also use the highway radar app and run it in conjunction with Waze. It gets its information from Waze but also gives you the benefit of earlier warnings. I have found that with the Waze app by the time it gives you the warning sometimes it's too late or if somebody drives by the speed trap the location tag can sometimes be an eighth of a mile past the cop. Highway radar also gives you heat maps to let you know where cops usually set and it's great in rural areas where Waze isn't as effective. And the last thing is highway radar also gives you police airplane and helicopter information.

      Oh that's cool. I'm gonna have to check it out. Thanks for the tip!

    Hey Nate, did you see the dodge power brokers dealership list is out on the dodge homepage. There only about five per state, except the larger states have around eight.

      Hey John, thanks for the tip! That's not a lot for the larger states. I'm still waiting to see if they have anything better than what's already been announced parts wise.

    Omggg I’m so glad you mentioned Georgia!! I just went there for a little vacation but on the way there i saw nothing but state troopers in SCATPACKS!! I was in such aw 😭 they do not play any games out there what so ever. Apple just updated their maps app where it’ll say speed check ahead which is pretty cool.

      That's cool that Apple added it also now. I didn't know they were running scat packs in GA but I guess all that ticket money has gotta go somewhere...

    7:56 100%, the worst ticket I ever got was because let her rip on the highway one saturday morning, light/medium traffic, and there was a cop in a Caprice a few cars back. And the only other one I got, I just wasn't paying attention to my surrounding. There were some cool cars to look at and I didn't slow down with everyone else

    You need a bigger toolkit, I have been driving a long time from one side of the country to the other and back, avoiding tickets takes a toolkit, there is no magic bullet and exceptions to every rule. You explained how radar detectors work but didn't really emphasize that if there's no one in front of you for them to tag, there's no residual signal to be picked up. If you can't see a place beside the road, they could be hiding there, just that simple. Also with radar you can "hide" behind a bigger return, fighter planes still do this today, cozy up to a big fat transport plane and you are no longer distinguishable from it on radar. Instincts, feelings, I once barely missed getting caught going 150 because I "felt" something. The bad part about this, just like driving fast, you really have to do it to learn it. I have received a large number of speeding tickets, but only one in the fastest car I've ever owned, and that was because I was at the end of a 20 hour drive and got caught slippin. The stop light and on ramp stuff I just straight don't agree with, first off the streets where I live are 60 and 65 mph, that's a zero to 60 every stop light without breaking the law. Second I drive a manual, regardless the speed limit I'm always trying to get my best launch, and shoot straight up to 5 mph over whatever the speed limit is. The on ramp is for safety, I drive an extremely fast car, but even my car slows down faster than it excelerates, meaning speed is your friend coming into any merge situation. I can always slow down enough to get in a hole I might not be able to excelerate enough. Driving fast is just like drifting, it takes skills which are only achieved and maintained with practice.

      Well said! With radar though if the gun is on, you'll get the signal. That's happened to me many times even being the only car out there. A lot of cops will just leave the gun on and aimed at the highway and those are easy to catch with a radar detector. With laser, no way since it's such a narrow beam. I forgot to include that part about using a chase car. That's saved me a bunch of times also!

    All great points Nate! I use them all and one additional one. I don’t go more than 3 miles over the speed limit! If I happen to be “accidentally” going over this speed limit, and I see a cop, I usually pull over to the right lane or slow as soon as possible and then the car behind me flies by and several times have been the one to get pulled over.

    • @natesrt
      @natesrt  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah that's a great tip also! How many times have you accidentally been over in the Redeye? 😂

    2:32 it's hard to hear if you're saying laser jammers are illegal or legal. It depends on the state, and even still, there are ways to "get away with it." Proper laser jammer "technique" is: alarm sounds, slow down the speed limit, turn off the jammers and let the cop get your speed. IF you leave jammers on and pass the cop, that is a dead giveaway that you are running jammers and they're much more likely to pull you over (even if you slow down), especially if laser jammers are illegal in your state. Some jammers have an "auto off" setting where they will turn themselves off 3-4 seconds after they sound an alarm, which should be enough time for you to slow down to the speed limit.
    That being said, in some jurisdictions, a cop "eyeballing" your speed is admissible as evidence, radar/laser is only used to "confirm" it. There are cops out there whose eyeball is frighteningly accurate.
    Now, AFAIK, radar jammers are illegal everywhere, and, don't quote me on it, jamming radar is considered an act of war.
    Some radar detectors are made to be invisible to radar detector detectors
    Check out Vortexradar.com for everything you ever wanted to know about radar and laser countermeasures. If you really want to get into the weeds of countermeasures, go on Vinwiki's channel and listen to the Cannonballers
