Marly, I love when your tutorial starts, is the music that starts with Hit It. I love it. I love watching you because your so spunky and have a beautiful smile. I like the way you explain, I can understand because you are very patience in explaining. Thank you so much.
I would like to make a scarf like this, you explain very good but I would have loved if you made the 4th row with the rippings for us begginers, it would have been more useful than the explanation of the second row. Thanks for the tutorial.
As a new Hooker, I shied away from wavy patterns, thinking they were too difficult! Thank you Marly Bird for making this tutorial so simple! Beautiful stitch! Happy Holidays! 👏🏻🧶💕
Thanks for the great tutorial! I loved the design of this scarf but wanted to make it out of heavier yarn. The yarn I used recommended 6 mm hook so I switched it to 8 mm hook to add more drape like texture for the scarf. You can modify the concept for bulky yarn: if you have 28 stitches in the ripple rows it comes close to being the same width as in the video (22 cm wide). This means we need to modify the pattern a little bit:1 double crochet in the first stitch (it should have chain three already as the second "double crochet"), then 4 regular double crochet, 2 double crochet decrease stitches, 4 double crochet, 2 double crochet increase stitches, 4 double crochet, 2 double crochet decreases, 1 double crochet. Chain three and turn the work and repeat. Hope this helps someone :)
I just finished this pattern in the same yarn and color! It’s so beautiful and easy; I’m a beginner crotchet-er. My cousin from a different state saw my work through Snapchat and loved it so I shipped it to her, now to crotchet myself one.
I loooooooove this pattern!!! Thank you so much Marly!!! I will be crocheting a blanket with this. The suddle ripple effect is exactly what I've been looking for, for the longest time.
Your website is wonderfull! I liked the name, but I loved the content! I started learning crochet and knitting last year, I'm sooo new to this and I find your "Before you begin" articles a treasure! Thanks, keep the spirit and good work! Greetings from Serbia :)
Just came across your channel ... Great tutorial, I have made the bright stripes scarf and will be trying this one today. Last minute birthday gifts. Thanks!
A lot of people are asking about expanding or decreasing this pattern. The way that I calculated it, is you basically need a multiple of 12. The down the hill, up the hill pattern takes 12 loops to complete. For example, I am using a chunkier yarn, so I have 24 stitches in each row - WITH THE EXCEPTION of the first chain. You add one. So my first chain is 25.
Thank you so much for the clear instructions and video - brilliant! This pattern is definitely going on the list of to-do projects. Can't wait to look up more of your videos now. :)
I had to like the video so great for beginners but i had to stop the video because it was too slow for me, but perfect for my friends who are just learning
Great tutorial and great pattern. Thank you. Would like to make this, just wondering if I can make it a tad bit narrower. HOw many chains should I do to make it slightly narrower and still get the same wave pattern? THank you so much. Really appreciate your tutorials. Have learned so much and a few months ago I could not even crochet. Now I love it!
thank you for a great tutorial, I'm new to crochet, only started a few months ago but I managed to make the scarf and it looks amazing, all my friends are jealous 😃 Do you have a patern to make a hat to go with that scarf, perhaps?
Just wanted to let you know I used & referenced your TH-cam video to create the Wavy Ridge Super Scarf. My name on Ravelry is Fava74 and the project is self-named. You do not have the pattern listed on Ravelry but it is on Heather Lodinsky's page. Thank you for ALL your fantastic videos on TH-cam. I am disabled so I watch a LOT of TH-cam and crochet all the while - you are definitely one of my favorite tutors.
I really loved the tutorial and the pattern. Your instructions make it so easy to follow along. However, I like many others, am wondering what the starting chain multiples need to be? I had no problem making the scarf with 12+1 but when I tried to increase the pattern to a lapghan 12+1 was not working out. Any help with this would be much appreciated!
Love the look of this! Could you please share what the multiple might be so that I can make a blanket instead of a scarf? Thanks again and love your videos!!!
Hi.. thank you for the pattern! May I ask a question? If I use red heart super saver solid color the regular skein, would it be enough to make this pattern with the same size? It is pretty hard to find the jumbo skein of red heart super saver in Indonesia. Thank you in advance!
Hello from the Czech Republic! Wonderful tutorial! It helped me a lot! Can I ask you, what's "the number" of the smaller version? How can i do that when i want to get a shorter scarf? :) On this tutorial you have done it with "37" chains .. So..? Thank you for an answer. :)
I've make a good chuck of it and although it is very pretty the recipient only wants a 6in wide car is there any way for me to adjust the pattern to get 6in and still get the same waves I've tried and it's not working
Please, could someone clarify. I am trying to make this a blanket for a queen size bed. If I understand correctly, I create the first row with enough chains to get the width I desire but the total number of chains must be a multiple of 12. Once have the length then I simply add one more chain. I don’t add the one chain for each multiple of 12 - just one additional chain, right? My first attempt failed, when doing row four it ended on a downhill rather than at the top of a hill.
Hello, Marlly I love your videos and your beautiful crochet work. I'd like to know the name of the introductory song of this video. I wish you success and plenty of health. Thank you!
If you take a look at the pattern you will see that after row 3 you continue in the pattern repeating row 3 until the piece measures 89 inches. Here is a link to the pattern for your convenience. bit.ly/WavyRidgeSuperScarf
Thank you for your feedback. in the video I teach you tgecstutch pattern, how to recognize where stitches are made, how to count stitches, and how to repeat the pattern. I don't think offering anything more than that would improve the video. But I will take your suggestion into consideration for future videos.
I'm struggling with the 3rd row, for some reason I'm constantly coming up short at the end, even with counting my stitches on row 2 before starting! Bah!
I gifted the same pattern scarf with the same yarn, same color before I saw your video. I was happy about it because I was a beginner.
Got the yarn, found the pattern, had trouble reading the instructions, found the video. THANK YOU!!!
Same thing happened to me.
I love you, your honest sincere illustration and your delicate touch as well.
Thank you
Really glad to watch this video. I was having trouble understanding the written pattern. Thanks!

+Dina Roberts oh thank you so much, Dina!!! You made my night.
Dina Roberts so true where as others u must rewind or they mess up there own pattern ...very lovely on my 5th row already
I would like to make a scarf like this, you explain very good but I would have loved if you made the 4th row with the rippings for us begginers, it would have been more useful than the explanation of the second row. Thanks for the tutorial.

I am a fairly new at crocheting and this is the first ripple pattern that I feel I understand. I can't wait to try it.

What should be the chain count if we to make it wider
The closing 2 single crochet rows, are in back loop only??
Veru nice thanks
I love this scarf so much❤️❤️thanks for your sharing
How about the approximate thickness of wool and the weight of the scarf??
it is a worsted weight.
Is there a way to make it so its not as wide but keep the same ripple effect? In multiples of what? Thanks

What size crochet hook should I use? I missed that.
Please tell me how to start as a beginner I need its width big so do ???
Can you add pockets?
I've make a good chuck of it and although it is very pretty the recipient only wants a 6in wide car is there any way for me to adjust the pattern to get 6in and still get the same waves I've tried and it's not working
Do you have a pattern for a winter hat that uses this wavy stitch?
How can I make it wider, can I just 10 ch at the start ?

I can’t find the free pattern to figure out how much yarn I need
What is the number of the hook??
I need pattern I can't find it 😭
Is there a pattern available for this?
Do you think the pattern will look good on a marled yarn?
It might be a little harder to see the waves. You could do a swatch and test it out :)
4:50 row 3
what is the multiple, please?
Multiple of 12+1
Paula
Thank you Hanna!
Hola; podría dar el tutorial en Español por favor, gracias
Hi can we make this as a shawl?
Yes.
After that first wave do I do single crochet then after start the new wave?
If you take a look at the pattern you will see that after row 3 you continue in the pattern repeating row 3 until the piece measures 89 inches. Here is a link to the pattern for your convenience. bit.ly/WavyRidgeSuperScarf

+Gale Martin yes. It it will be MUCH bigger
Thanks!
Gale Martin, that would make an awesome shawl. :-)
i love this pattern but it is way to hard for me to figure out on my own.
+Jessica Woodall did the video help?
Marly Bird sadly no it did not. i watched it a couple of times and just kept getting confused.
maybe if the video was of you making the whole scarf. i could watch it and follow along.
Thank you for your feedback. in the video I teach you tgecstutch pattern, how to recognize where stitches are made, how to count stitches, and how to repeat the pattern.

uhhhhhh what?
I do talk a lot. That is the way I teach. I like to inform the crocheter about the stitches, instead of just telling them what to do.
@Marly Bird ...... Looks intricate. Great tutorial. THANK YOU!
