I sing bass harmony in a ladies' barbershop chorus, and sometimes our arrangements and warm-ups have higher notes than my vocal range is comfortable with - but you're right, it's all in the mind! Sometimes I rehearse these elements by "bubbling" (aka lip-trilling) the higher notes, so I get the feel of them with no strain...sometimes I stick my thumb into the indentation under my lower jaw - this seems to help release tension too! I will definitely give your squeaking exercise a go, too, thanks. x

I'm guessing this video is more centered around males, and i understand that.
I don't deal too well with high notes, unless it's like a mid-soft note (if you know what i mean XD :P). basically, i tend to sing more low and soft songs.
some examples are: Take Me To Church, Inner Demons, Paralyzed, The Water Fountain and I Built A Friend
oops, i listen to too much Alec Benjamin nowadays -x-

Yeah you can go that angle for sure, I teach boys and girls but most of my 'high note' type stuff is helping men because they suffer with these types of issues more than women.

Omg just found your channel, you are the only vocal coatch I've found interesting enough for an untameable person like me to addapt as coach, glad to join your league.
I'm not new to singing but I've been a guitar dude/drummer all my life here up, somewhat doing some growls on my own bases, but now I need professionality.
Found myself needed to sing in my band so here we are, let's put this leg in and smoke it, thank you :)

I have a question regarding singing lessons through your skype, do your students choose a song to work on with you?

@@BecomingANaturalSinger I find it's unnaturally strainy for me to go above C or D4 in chest, I think I should just allow to go over the passaggio and sing in head
Although contemporary music expects a lot of belting but it does not sound healthy to me, with my voice at least :l
