    Guys, thanks for another great vid. Love watching your work. I've picked up so many tips and techniques which I use on my restoration projects and for that, I thank you! Splitting that sill panel and letting it relax was another gem. Keep them coming!

    She’s coming up nicely Darryl and Mick. I watch other channels and I still can not understand why they use so much fillers. I can understand a little here and there but man they wipe the whole car. Darryl has shown Mick the Skill by the looks. I love it and there needs to be more like this. Best father and son show. Hard working attention to detail. Aussie Gentleman
    Thanks 🙏

    Great work guys , great to see your skills and trade applied .I have enjoyed watching how you do things and take no short cuts .One important thing to remember when we worked on cars like this as younger men they were not worth much at all ( and we didnt have much money ).The guy at the corner did the panel work and painted , the engines were built in the shed - so alot of patch work was common .Nowdays - Quality money and time .Either you have the time and skills and you get quality, or pay for the skills the time and get the quality

    I remember that year in 1972 I was 10 years old watching the race on tv, I think Allan Moffat in the falcon won the two years previously, the dealer team car in those days, it rained the mighty little Torana with Brock, I think it was his first win, that was the race that cemented me to never miss a bathurst. I like how you guys do it right always top notch work.

    Great to see you both had a great New years break and back on deck for another great year. Great demonstration on how much difference there is between genuine and after market products can be showing that a sill can be anywhere from 1mm- 3mm which cause the door to look so out of alignment. Another great start to the years boys, missed you both. 👊👍👌💪🥰

    Beautiful work the Xu-1 will have a far better panel fit than when she rolled out out Acacia Ridge. I purchased a new September
    '72 I picked it up on Tuesday...& lost my drivers licence Saturday arvo😢 I sold it 2010 56,000 miles genuine on the clock I still wish I never sold it . The colour was Tangerine. Good work guys.

    G'day,
    Great video gents. 27.10 showed the moment spot on that the drivers side sill popped when you opened it up. It certainly shows the problems you can come up against with aftermarket parts.
    Once Mick has finished his sill, what about you put it out to us subscriber's which one is the best. 😋
    So thanks for sharing guys i appreciate the advice you give.
    It helps me out enormously on my project, a 67 Split Window Kombi.
    ✌️ Peace from Melbourne/Pakenham. 3810

    I changed both my sills front and back and inners. problem was different companies made them. I had to brace my frame so it didn't move around as well. I spent days adjusting aftermarket panel but hey better than no panels

    Welcome back legends!! i have been waiting patiently for the next episode! Quick question, how does the quality of the steel from the Genuine panels to aftermarket compare? You make it look too easy when you blended the 2. Keep up the Great work, and looking forward to the next one. Cheers!

    Mick is there any reason you and pops don’t use a spot welder to join the sills and panels cheers gong

    • @adamsonautobody
      @adamsonautobody  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If it's a aftermarket panel we like to plug weld. Because it's a little bit different material / metal. So we know with a plug weld it's welded 100%. spot welder can play up sometimes with aftermarket panels.

  • @ScottGiltrap
    @ScottGiltrap 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Hi guys.. Scott from NZ here. More awesome work in this episode. Just a question.. When you were sanding the 2 different surfaces on the boot, is it better to do it by hand rather than use an orbital sander? .

    • @adamsonautobody
      @adamsonautobody  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey @ScottGiltrap we only do it by hand so you can feel the highs and lows.

  • @cypresssteve1
    @cypresssteve1 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Silly question from a silly bloke but how do you protect the inside of the panels and welds from rusting again? Is there a way to get in there and spray it?

  • @AdventureMotoEnduro

    • @adamsonautobody
      @adamsonautobody  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes we do have one. we will still give it the authentic factory spot marks. we just like to plug weld non genuine panels on. Cheers @65cj55👍

    Where do you source the aftermarket sill replacement panels you use?

  • @lauriekennedy7984
    @lauriekennedy7984 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    when the sill is split with the grinder dont filings get inside the sill and wiill rust causing the sill to rust

    • @adamsonautobody
      @adamsonautobody  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      The sill will be removed again. It is only screwed on for the pre fit. The next episode we will show the next steps.

    I have been to the factory in Taiwan that make these panels along with the ford panels, years ago i sent them the xy falcon body for them to copy the parts, they are not interested in making them 100% correct, if the first mold attempt is wrong , it's to expensive to change, hence some panels fit great others are crap, in the end i gave up, other companies were happy to sell what ever they could get.
