My indigenous ancestors are from South America but I get choked up whenever I hear native songs. It sounds so beautiful and soulful and I can’t comprehend how colonizers all those years ago thought “oh not English, not about god, so it’s devil music and savages.”
This song is so emotionally touching for anyone who has ever lost a loved one. It’s especially charged with emotions because of the history of residential schools. Profoundly deep and spiritually healing. ❤️
Always makes me cry .. those babies 🥺🥺🥺.. and they wonder why is natives can never let go of the "past" it's never the past for us... We deal with the trauma caused by the "government" daily . .. 😔❤️ thankfully I have all my grandparents And they never got separated when they were forced into boarding schools on our rez

I am a white man but my soul sings to native culture I grew up in a school called st.clements in Alberta Canada 🇨🇦 that had a lot of native kids in it so we had aboriginal day once a week with dancing and history and story time, ever since I was a child I have felt connected with native culture but when I express my self people have always told me your white so stop. But yet I have spoken to elders and they except me and want to teach me. Sometimes I hate the colour of my skin.
