No turning vane in the tee on the plenum box. No duct seal on the joints or insulation. Must be exposed or conditioned space. They dovetailed the 90's instead of using a boot tap.
They forgot to insulate the suction line
As a side note. Mine was insulated..they just didn't plug up the 8" Hole they left!

Sean Vandyke when it's done properly you don't need to can tape it the two companies I work for never used one one roll of 10 tape this other company I work for they loved it cuz I didn't know how to install how to install
Taping or painting it with duct sealer is very good, we do it in all jobs in the Commercial Industry along with Insulating it the cost an time is well worth it in the long time
@Robert Slackware Are you on Hydroxychloroquine? Any Cold or Hot Air that gets into your basement means you are spending money! Meaning Gas or Electricity. So much for Energy Efficiency.
@Robert Slackware I am guessing you live in the Southern USA. Here in Canada Cold Air, well with the exception of a Cold Air return, is a BAD thing. The same thing can be said about your "Main Trunk" Air is leaking out...therefore the Efficiency of your HVAC goes down. IT is blowing heat where it is not needed. Please don't give that crap about Heat Rises!
@@tombrown1227 Also that isn't true, you will have some air leaks no matter how tight the metal work. Also it is CODE nearly every state all joints must be sealed with tape or mastic and efficiently test via blower doors are done.
That supply plenum is going to sweat like a banshee in cooling mode!!!! I don't care if it's conditioned space or not!!!!

Install looks neat but so many issues with it. No volume control, no turning vanes, duct looks really cheap and flimsy, no sealant. And why dont you believe in mez frame connections?
Gosh. Don’t even mention Architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers. These are professionals. They represent you. These other guys are salesmen who may not have your interests in mind. Tradesmen and manufacturer’s representatives are NOT professionals.
I’m sure they sealed and insulated the duct afterward. They just wanted to show of the sheet metal job. This is how systems used to be installed in the 60’s. My father was a contractor, and the heating systems were are rectangular trunk lines with round and square take offs where necessary. I don’t remember seeing any mastic or insulation back then, but the ductwork looked just like this. Anyone who uses flex for an entire system is not a pro, just a amateur HACK
True craftsmanship in the old days in sheet metal work. Awed by the skills of the old timers with all the compound reducing tees and ells. Not to mention no flex. All rigid.
I doubt it I think one of their workers commented on another of my post saying spray foam was used which isn't code.
Nothing is sealed or insulated. Conditioned space or not, how can you make a video about efficiency and not seal and insulate the ductwork? Crazy man...... Very clean work though!!!

@@j.walker3498 Doesn't prevent air loss in the ductwork and exposes the spray foam to moist air that will allow mold growth
@@zack9912000 no keep your OPINION to yourself. that's not how condensation damage works. Air inside duct is NOT moist. Duct tape and or mastic at joints/seams prevents any air loss,.
@@j.walker3498 You clearly don't work in our industry, it is CODE all ductwork connections must be sealed with foil tape or mastic to prevent air loss and blower door tests are required on new construction, spray foam over ductwork in some states is illegal.. See it all the time were ductwork is not sealed and or insulatated as code requires.
It either must insulated inside or it must be wrapped. See it alot, causing condensation to run off the ductwork and mold to grow. Buthers try to use Spray foam on ductwork which in most states can't be used to Insulate ductwork period. Beside there is plenty of moisture in the air flowing in your ductwork that will cause mold growth from improperly sealed ductwork where it can escape spray foam or not. Doesn't take a high percentage of moisture in the air supply to cause mold problems.
Hence it is a billion dollar a year industry using dry ice to remove mold from roof sheeting because of leaking ductwork Also how tight the ductwork sits there is zero chance in hell they are getting 100% of all that ductwork covered.

We were accommodating with range placement, but we used trailer flex to offset the cost of the extra piece of wall stack.

They should have sealed all connections with mastic or tape, loose a large amount of air in those joints. Loose a ton of your efficiency with all those unsealed connections

Listen, I've been in the heating and cooling industry for the better part of twenty plus years. One of the biggest pieces of advice I can offer to other professional contractors is to leave a massive dump in a 90° bend. There is no better way to assert your dominance.
My friend is a retired home builder who used to build large custom homes. He told me that one of his customers had just moved into their new home and was complaining about odors in the second floor bedrooms. He went up into the attic and searched for the source of the odor. He was expecting to find a dead animal but he found that one of his construction crew had taken a huge dump in the attic insulation.

Rounded ducts are more efficient, why are all these rectangular?
The main ducts on the supply and exhaust are rectangular for correct volume and static pressure while the side duct runs are round.

Nope these are the type of butchers in New construction we clean up after. No sealed or insulatated ductwork for starters. Would never pass inspection.

The HRV or ERV is a separate system that conditions the fresh air with exhaust air from bathroom, kitchen, and dryer.

Is there a way to fix bent ductwork when already installed? Some other workers used it to support themselves when doing other work.
