My parents moved my family to Australia in 1972. It was very backward vs Europe back then and for the first 5 years my mum wanted to ‘go home’ to Denmark. My mum gave Australia a good ‘go’, went back to Denmark for holidays alone (my parents couldn’t afford for us to all go). It didn’t take long to fit in here though.
The big thing, is ‘setting up your life’. All the things you had before, you can also have here. It will take effort, but you can have it here too.
It is also very early days for you, you will go through more ‘sad times’. This ‘is’ the place for you, but so is your original home. You don’t have to go or stay….but I hope that what ever you decide, you end up happy. :-)

Hi from Perth! I know it's hard starting from the beginning in a new country but keep going. We have been here for 50 years now and in the beginning we found it tough too and almost went back home. Have you thought about starting your own Marketing business and getting some work on sites like Freelancer? Also joining Meetup is great for meeting people. I find the local Fitstop gym is great for making new friends as they have regular social events. If you can't find work in Gold Coast, have you thought about moving to Brisbane? There are about twice the number of jobs advertised in Brisbane.

@@ChristopherLeu-jw3ej hey! Thanks so much for your comment 😊 I’d love to visit Perth at some point so please let me know any recommendations you have! Comforting to know others have experienced the same - well done for pushing through. I have thought about it but I don’t think I have the confidence atm, I wouldn’t know where to start! I’ll definitely check out Meetup and Freelancer. Brisbane is definitely an option, after five years in London we fancied a bit of a change from a city but agreed the work prospects are a lot stronger in Brisbane it seems

look up Gold Coast Revival fellowship, I live on the Sunshine Coast but I do know a lot of people there and you will not only meet a lot of people but it's more like a big family. My step father was living there but he had to move here so he could marry my mum.😊

Hi, I just wanted to give you some reassurance about gaps in your CV. I’ve been in Comms and Marketing a long time and recruited a lot of people in that time. Gaps are common and they don’t remove your previous experience so don’t worry. You might find that your experiences give you new examples you can use. Really happy to chat more about it if you’d like.

I can only offer my condolences to you...for having to live on the Gold Coast! From my own experience, the GC must be the worst place in Aust. to live. Can I suggest if you feel you have a most negative experience of living in Aust., then you MUST move to a better place, which considering the GC, can literally be ANYWHERE else! If you like a big vibrant city, then choose one of the big four. If you like a smaller place with less drama, then choose one of the millions small towns in Australia...As to your family issues, I know that it takes time.
