      Yeah and how do think the orcas feel, not very happy I'd assume. These orcas in captivity experience extreme mental and physical trauma and you can easily tell this by the one orcas fin at 12:37 , an orcas fin should be pointed straight up not drooped down to the side. You should definitely watch the documentary Blackfish which goes into much better detail and you would be able to educate yourself on the struggles of these poor creatures

    Okay so these whales are protected, fed, have a family pod, receive medical care and are constantly stimulated with training and shows. I could understand people’s protests about “captivity” if they were just swimming in an aquarium, bored to tears, but they are NOT. Why do we assume they are unhappy? They can’t speak. Yes, they have attacked people at times because they are ANIMALS. Dogs attack people too…should we stop keeping dogs in “captivity”? They certainly seem to have a good life to me.

    • @adamtaylor6603
      @adamtaylor6603 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      How much have you researched this topic ? I only ask this as to compare an orca and a dog is not a fair comparison. The dog has bread over decades to domesticate it. If a dog breed is deemed dangerous then it is banned as we see in the XL bully type too. Orca’s are very intelligent animals so to isolate one into a swimming pool when it’s intended for an ocean is just cruel. They are stimulated by trainers and I don’t dispute the trainers don’t harm and do feed and take care of them but captivity for these animals is not right and is animal abuse in its hidden form. If we did this to an innocent human it would be seen as forced captivity even if we got fed and exercised …..

Large ones like aound an island(s) .And rehabilitation to hunt stocked live fish.You are sadly mistaken if you think breeding whales in captivity is a "maybe not" instead of WHAT THE ??? The DNA of these animals is already harvested if you are wondering about ocean wellness. Maybe you should get involved with ocean wellness instead of "Oh well -cruelty is better than nothing,:" The stock pool of theses animals os inbred by the way.They are becoming psychotic and --unstable.As-- for trainers?? they love being trainers around whales.They do not loe the whales or they would not be --trainers.No-- trainers.- no whale shows. They may die in the wild which I agree with as seen in the case study of Keiko. However with the captive population that are left a better solution must be found. These circus shows which are dressed up as education are total nonsense and simply revenue generators for seaworld and other sea life amusement parks. The makeshift swimming pools are only a fraction of what they should be in regarding size and lack any resemblance of the natural world. This is one of the worst displays of animal cruelty in modern day with lessons never been learned from all the orca’s that have become aggressive (Kasathka & Tilikum & Keto) and died in some instances too young. This annoys and angers me that this is allowed to go on and shows no signs of any change.

      That's not why their fins bend my dude. It's caused by gravity. The whales here live in small, shallow pools, where everything interesting (trainers, food, toys) is on the surface, so that's where they spend the most time. In the wild, whales spend most of their lives underwater, with currents to keep their massive dorsal fins up. We used to think being sick caused the fin to bend, as it was usually only observed in sick or injured wild whales. However, we now know sick whales are more likely to spend extended time at the surface, and so lead to their fin going floppy. There's currently no evidence diet plays any part in their fin collapsing.

Bo Derek was 19 years old in the movie and she's telling the captain don't do it, he ignores her, shoots, he hits the female orca, she's screaming and bleeding, so the female orca tries to kill herself by being chopped in the rotor blades. They realize, turn the boat off. They get a rope and tie it to her tail and bring her on board, hanging upside down, she's barely alive, and all of a sudden a baby pops out of her dead. The male orca is watching all of this happen. He sees the baby fall out, he sees his women dead, bloody hanging upside down. They cut her free and orca jumps up and kills the one dude cutting her free. The whole movie was orca having revenge on everybody that was on that boat. Nobody else. vincent cabezas yes but they were also other issues and impacts. Some of which are still issues today. Im also not saying do the old tricks and stunts they took out. Im just saying extend the show. Perhaps with more natural play sessions, eg each show the orcas get different toys to play with!
      Im saying provide them with external stimulation, and use the shows as an excuse to do this! Some of the most interesting videos ive seen are the “training” sessions where the orcas are just doing their thing and no required to perform. Sometimes having toys or just relaxing with the humans. Why not include some of this time during shows? Its not some stressful unnatural trick theyve done too many times to count. Its still entertaining and its providing stimulation and a chance for the public to see something thats not fake, like the shows are currently.

    It’s awesome how these shows go from Shamu to Orca Encounter. As I can agree they have gone education wise. Would of been great for Lolita to have come to Sea World, but sadly she passed away a week ago. As for Sea World they seem to be doing great with educational opportunities. Hopefully Miami Seaquarium creates a educational orca place with museums and honor of Lolita’s legacy and to do a lecture show to protect and education of the wild southern resident orcas. Like Sea World to educate.

      Don't be ridiculous! SeaWorld is full of it. What they don't tell you is that they swim up to 3 miles an hour for 100 miles a day and dive 400 feet every day with their pods. enjoying life..
      Orcas are very intelligent and social animals just like us. You don't take a free and happy orca out of his home to use for educational purposes and then make them do parlor tricks to entertain us. We have the Internet and children have picture books. We don't need to take them from their habitat and from their families to teach us. This makes them lonely and sad and this is just one reason they have bent dorsal fins.
      They say the choices we all make can make a difference. is it a good thing? Is this really what we want to teach our children to learn? That it's a good thing to keep orcas in a small pool? Hardly the space that they can swim and hunt in their natural habitat. We don't need to enslave animals in a confined pool for education Orsas don't live their life expectancy. They actually live only half of it. We should not need to bond with these animals. We shouldn't be building trust with them for they don't attack humans in the wild!!! They are teaching them to do tricks or anything that isn't natural. I can't say anything else, I'm lost for words. Please watch videos that will help you understand from the beginning to the end of these Orcus lives. yth-cam.com/video/G86ght2KReo/w-d-xo.htmlsi=g3SVxgVLfPrvNHjloutu.be/bUWpSk_PyMg?si=noYZ01HlocWihpCP

      They are not educating. They leave out a lot of facts like they die decades before their life expectancy. In captivity, Female orcas living in the wild can reach 100 years. They usually don't make it by 20 years here. I like how he says it's up to us to make a difference, so much to learn yet they live in highly chlorinated pools with other harmful chemicals that can cause retinal problems and in some cases, blindness. These animals are fed dead thawed fish, not their natural diet. They deprive them of living free, hunting, and playing with their families. Sea world does not know what goes on behind the scenes. This is why they put on a spectacular presentation. Please watch this video to see what they don't want you to know. Remember, this is a multi-billion business, and they will do what takes to continue with the suffering of these mammals exploiting marine animalsth-cam.com/users/shorts0V4iVaTtelQ?si=bPimn02oGw41JEt6

I corresponded with a couple in Montana that raised a wolf from a pup to almost 16 years old. They don’t live that long in the wild. They do not torture them at SeaWorld. They care about them. “They have very sensitive skin” continues to leave them in pools where they get sunburned and when they get sunburned you guys cover it up with ink. Sea world is beyond messed up
