Hmmm... As a fan, I am hopeful for EZ to get to the top, BUT I wonder if "too much talent" would be enough to bring him there 🤔 I am quite eager to have people see more of his character/attitude, too. I don't know him that much, though, but from what I've seen of him, I'm quite fond of his realness/authenticity & passion for excellence in his craft 😊, even though he may at times act cocky, which I don't like sometimes. I mean, there's a charm to it "sometimes", but he could also go overboard "sometimes" 😬. He and his sister Ruth Sapiera a.k.a. Raining Sorrow were born here in the PH to musicians, Hazel Miller and Paul Sapiera. They lived in Olongapo City which has a long tradition of being a hard core music town for bands because of the American bases that were stationed here for decades. The dad, Paul, was lead guitar and soloist for a Rock band. He’s now Based in HK still playing gigs. Hazel brought her two kids to Las Vegas, Nevada, where she remarried. It was an UNhappy marriage, which accounts for EZ’s rage against his stepfather. He expressed this in one of his songs in the album ACT 1. Ruth or Raining Sorrow, meanwhile, also composes and sings. As you may guess, her parents’ split and her UNfaithful stepfather have caused her much sadness and existential angst, expressed in two of her songs, which she recorded (produced by EZ) at age 13. They are heartbreaking, but do give a listen. She has an adorable song called MIXTURE. To appreciate EZ best, you need to listen not only to his hiphop compositions-FRAUD, KING I BE, OMOSHIROI (feat. his Step Brother, Anji) which are great fun, provocstive, brash, bastos (haha) and substantive, but also to his quiet ruminations, which express self doubt and anxiety that he might disappoint his mother (again)-EASY GOING MILLIONS and LACKLAND. Lackland is a US Airforce base. The song provides context for Easy Going Millions. And, well, I guess you can call them love songs in the album RESONANCES. I especially appreciate them in light of knowing his angst. Oh and he has an alter ego, Slash Mouth (masked EZ) who performed THE SLASHY SHOW. It’s a riot. Several months ago I watched a short clip of raw footage of EZ and Ruth, very young, sitting on a slide (?). It was shot by Paul Sapiera, apparently they were town visiting their dad in HK. So he was asking them How they were, what they were doing in school, whether they were happy. At the end of it, he says he loves them and wanted them to have the video to watch when they got older. EZ used a snippet of the video in EASY GOING MILLIONS. Its so poignant. Happy birthday!

As one of your loyal audiences, I'd like to suggest that you also explore other areas of the Philippine music industry, especially those that provide informal training grounds of our artists. Here's a list: "amateur singing competitions both on TV and in local venues where these are common occurrences, choral groups (especially groups that win competitions in Asia and Europe), cover bands that perform in 5-star hotel venues, bars, and cruise ships around the world, and Filipino talents who successfully made it to franchise singing competitions around the world, many of whom end up taking the grand prize.
