Just got a link to your channel. Enjoyed your attempts to photograph the otters. Your interview with your friend taught me about a species of eagle that I didn't know about. Your white tail resembles our Bald eagle, which is our national bird. I have been watching eagle for a good 40 years and it never gets old. Our eagles were on the brink of extinction due to a pesticide being used in farming. Luckily it was ban in the 1970's and with excellent management the eagles have made a beautiful recovery. Enjoyed your show and looking forward to more episodes. Good Adventures from America.

Similar story here in Finland with first shooting the white-tailed eagles and then realising what we had done. Luckily all of them weren't killed and with conservation efforts especially from 70s onwards we now have 500 pairs. Last year they were also nesting very near Helsinki city, it was amazing. Unfortunately they didn't use the same nest this summer.
Now there's so many eagles that it shows in our eider population and some people have been suggesting shooting eagles again. To save the eiders? Yes but only for them to be able to shoot the eiders when their population grows.. 🙄 I guess you just need to be able to shoot stuff no matter what.
Thanks for another great episode. I really have to visit Scotland, looks amazing!

So hard photographing wildlife as a pair/group of people. The extra movement and communication sounds/movements between people are so much more noticeable to wildlife than a solo person moving quietly and observing 'outwards'.

Great video. I'm glad you didn't go over to Mull as the otters there are under pressure from the number of 'photographers' now visiting thanks to sites being publicised mainly on social media, the last two or three years in particular. When you see a dozen people stood in a semi circle around an otter on the shoreline that's just wrong but seemingly it's the picture that matters most to these people, not the welfare of the wildlife.

Some wildlife photographers have zero skills in stalking animals to get close enough.
Many of them totally harass the very animals they are trying to photograph.
They should use a ground blind at the very least. A photographer should never be intrusive in the environment where they work.
It's about your photos not about someone making a video of you trying to get your photo.

I think with nest disturbances, it's a catch 22, If you make people aware there are nests in the area, it makes people aware and puts them at threat, By not telling anyone, people don't know and are oblivious. I'm aware of 3 Osprey nests in Scotland and I don't share the details with anyone. Really enjoyed interview with the fellow Scot!

Just buy army grade ghillie suits and wrap your camera and lens with branches and leaves and your wildlife photography will become as easy as portrait photography.
Take this advice from Sergey Gorshkov, Morten Hilmer, Ingo Arndt and so on...
