    That was my group out there. Thank you Matt for the rescue! It was getting cold out there. Rob in the Jeep was a bit behind the KRX in front of him and did not see the bypass that we all had taken around the "Bathtub". He did see the previous tires tracks of all the other Jeeps who went that way earlier this week. Considering we had just crossed this river a dozen times, he proceeded boldly into the water. He put it in reverse but the Jeep dug in quickly.

    I spent some time in the U.S. in the early 70's and spoke to quite a few people to get an idea of the American way of life and habits. I came away with the impression that to be a good, 100% true blue American, you had to be slightly dilly, these videos of Mat's Off Road Recovery (which I watch every one of) confirms that impression. I found the new Badland Off-road Jack at our local Harbor Freight today. I picked it up for Christmas for my brother. We're constantly fighting with the 5 ton floor jack, concrete & outside. I had to give it to him right away. It lifts his tractor with ease. Great in the snow.
    My only complaints;
    1. Didn't come with small Allen wrench to fully assemble it. Not a big deal.
    2. Wish it was a bright color. Black makes it hard to line up in the shadows.

    Matt I used to love playing how far can I get in 2 wheel drive, particularly if I had a newbie to off-road. This was in the Ozarks so ROCKS, mud, hills, streams, and my favorite play was when the passenger (anxiously) said, "are you sure we can get out of here?" And I got to say, "if you're getting nervous I can put it in 4 wheel." I even got my son with this one time, I wasn't driving an off road vehicle, which he was accustomed to, I was in an old beater '95 Chevy Blazer, that I bought to take my dog to the creek. Yes, the transfer case worked, at that time. Later it didn't and I got to play the reverse game, coming out!

    Fairly easy recovery once you got there but you guys were shaking rattling and rolling on the way. Lizzy stayed dry on this rescue . She is as cute as they come and rides rodeo competitions, welds iron and rescues stranded vehicles. What a woman !

    • @markreed2576
      @markreed2576 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@calholli I don’t think the lockers did the job solo. It took a winch with a pulley set up. The pulley gives even more mechanical advantage to the winch plus the morvair had to be anchored with a vehicle behind it. I agree with you that ya need to know how to use your vehicle and it’s limits.

    • @JF32304
      @JF32304 ปีที่แล้ว

      @calholli ปีที่แล้ว

      @@markreed2576 Right.. I understand the mechanical advantage of pullies. I've just seen Matt cross that water in his Morvair on one of these episodes. It's definitely doable; the lockers are key.. Honestly I think they should just dump a load of rocks in the bottom so that people don't get stuck anymore.

    Matt, George's Bathtub has to be one of the Tow Truck Olympic events or something similar, because it's such a good challenge.

  • @justinjames2282
    @justinjames2282 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You should look into putting up a sign. George's bathtub, deeper than it looks.

  • @cmcer1995
    @cmcer1995 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Well, that was an easy recovery from the Bathtub this time. Must not have been quite as deep. I think 2WD is easy on the gas, but 4WD is easier on the vehicle itself. Is it still a good precaution to throw a blanket over the winch line as a general rule? How did you come up with the idea of the Lime Green Lizzy Hat, her favorite color? Anyway, good footage and an Easy Peasy.

    • @rythemzlatin
      @rythemzlatin ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes , for blanket ( etc.) with steel or
      aluminum cables.
      Not need for Yankum's sythetic flex
      lines tho. They'll just drop instead
      of whipping.
