You’re the man Jason! I’ve had my 150 for ONE MONTH and have had TWO “gut feelings” to where I had to stay on the ground (not weather related). Without getting into too much detail- the mechanic said my gut was spot ON! Loved this segment have a great day.
This is awesome! Jason, you are an inspiration for so many experienced and not so experienced pilots. I got my PPL in Portugal and then moved to the Cayman Islands. Unfortunately, it's been more than a year since I last flew due to the COVID situation. My next flight is going to be as my first student's flight. I'll get an instructor to go through the fundamentals of flying again... I'm really looking forward. And your teachings will be with me all the time...
That's great advice, every flight is a training flight, where you learn something good to put in the what if bag, or wow we're never doing that again. Keep up the good work. St
A great benefit as part of CAP (CA wing at least), we have had emergency procedures clinics the last few years--a group discussion followed by scheduling a flight with an instructor to practice a variety of emergencies. This is in addition to the annual F5 check ride.
Love this!! I am moving toward IFR training and I would like to add an auto-pilot to my 172S in the future. Could you share which unit you chose and what the total cost was? My plane doesn't have an auto-pilot or servos which is why I am asking for a reference when I get an estimate.
Always trust your gut and your ears. I once did a mag check and did not put the ignition fully to “both” afterwards. The plane took off fine but I thought to myself, this engine sounds funny. It was such a slight change in sound that I disregarded it as “must be me” until I noticed it upon shutdown... 🤦♂️ luckily it was a non event, but could have easily been more serious had I lost a plug or the mag doing all the work. Listen to those engines.
G, day from Sydney, Australia. Q1. The traffic reporting and your familiarity with the engine sound, did you wear the old headset for reassurance or except the reliability of the engine? 🌏🇭🇲🤔
Hi John! Jason wore the old headset while starting the traffic reporting. When getting a new headset, you need to "relearn" -so to speak -the sound of the aircraft. If you need more clarification please reach out to us at support@mzeroa.com! Thanks for watching!

Superb podcast - even for a pilot which, like me, won't go commercial but stay private.
then can I apply today?

Thanks for watching, Michael!
If I have an engine fire while flying a glider, then I have to first determine where I picked up the engine and whether or not it can be dislodged.
Haha! Thanks for watching!
