    The nose bleed scene is awesome - one of the best in the movie, of many brilliant scenes. The boys retreat into the heart of the house, inside the body of the house, and deeper into their relationship which is not just lustful but loving... endearing scenes of love and care. Mafalda's presence has a nurturing mother figure also looms over the scene (Luca has referred to himself as the 'Mafalda' of the movie in other press). Of course she knows what's going on with the boys. She could sense Elio did not close the fridge door as she senses the their relationship, and she understands the beat of the Perlmans. The movie star she (Mafalda) refers to Oliver, they all fall in love with Oliver even Anchise. Thank you, this film is a masterpiece.

      In the book, Elio has a nosebleed, as Oliver touches his foot under the table. I think in the movie, there was no need to explain that the nose probably came from their first kiss just before. Thanks for you analys of the scene, its so right !

    Great crowd and moderator. Very insightful questions and comments! An absolute masterpiece by Luca. Armie and Timmy were truly exceptional in the film i don’t think anyone else in the world could have portrayed Oliver and Elio as well as they did.

    In the book, Elio has a nosebleed, as Oliver touches his foot under the table. I think in the movie, there was no need to explain that the nose probably came from their first kiss just before. I love this movie so much, I could talk in detail about every scene, every emotion, the actors are perfect, the environment, the music, the love that floats everywhere, the desire, the excitement, in this house so relaxing and serene. I watch it very regularly, it is one of my films to comfort me

    The reference to the fly on Elio's shirt at the end neglected to mention that it is winter outside, and flies would not exist in that season.

      Yes they do inside the house during winter. I lived in Wisconsin

      Thomas Thompson Actually, the scene was MADE to look like it was winter, but it was still summer-no filming was done during winter months.

      He was referencing the part of the movie when they went into town and were on opposite sides of the fence around the war monument. Elio said something like "if only you knew how little I know about the things that matter" after Oliver had complimented his intelligence. Then Oliver said something like "what things?" and Elio said "you know what things."

    Could I ask you to send me the whole 4th wall question? I want to see how much did I babble? And how much my native accent was just ''hello you're nervous, your voice is shaking, I'm back''. :)

    What’s the fourth wall thing about ?

    • @beccymay701
      @beccymay701 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      While Elio is staring into the fire at the very end, ithink whne his mum says Elio the first time, he looks directly into the camera, which is called breaking the 4th wall. Timmy suggests he got the idea from the film Boyhood, and here it works very effectively as it pulls us into his heartbreak more strongly
