Cateen is sort of a generational talent to me, in the way that the guy has a knack for experimentation and getting out of what’s conventional. Jazz elements, pop elements, classical, he’ll incorporate anything he finds interesting in his music, that’s how I view him.
@@matticawood in your own free time (or in a video that could be fun tbh) I highly suggest you check out his Rhapsody in Blue with the RSNO, I loved that performance
5:46 I know thanks to viral piano covers that I was "expecting" a crap ton of muddy arpeggios and notes as it got for the sake of notes as levels got "harder". Cateen's talent is so refreshing and rises so far beyond that!
So cool that you reacted to Cateen, he is such a fun pianist. The first time i saw him was from "the first take" when he did a duet with Milet( A singer). He also has another fun one, which is bad guy with a cat.
The start of level 4 is a reference to Gaspard de la Nuit, I'm pretty sure. Either way, you're a very underrated youtuber Mat! Good luck on your journeys.
Most of the things I say have some sarcasm involved 😉 at the early stage of the piece it was hard to tell how much was “a nod” to other pieces, but later on it became clear that including the pieces was a part of it.
@@matticawood What do you mean "hard to say" or a "nod"? How was it hard to say when the main theme is basically the main theme of Mozart variations, not a "nod" to it, by the theme itself. I think "nod" is the wrong choice of words here. His is basically his own variations on the same theme. In fact, when I read the title "levels of Twinkle Twinkle", I thought it'd be the selection of the variations arranged by difficulty.
Hey I got a question I can play people at little more then intermediate (I learned through videos I don’t know how to read sheet music for piano as someone who is a percussionist it’s a bit hard for me) but what’s the best song to learn that has notes on the left that move a lot because I still struggle a lot with that like I can do cords and normal things but I’m trying to be able to move the left hand more in the harder songs

I agree, his versatility is unusual for someone of his level in classical playing! 😊

Matthew is still the most underrated youtuber in my opinion
Thank you! 😊
Had the pleasure of seeing him in Tenjin. Phenomenal.
That’s amazing! What pieces did he play? 😊

He has a lot of technical skill, you can tell he’s spent a lot of time practicing his scales/arpeggios 😊
@@matticawood Ah yes, but he adds so much more than just that! Don't see that from many popular pianists on TH-cam
Level 0 is Mozart’s Level 0. It’s interesting to see modern variations comparatively to Mozart’s 12.
Wow didn't expect you reacting to this masterpiece xD
Luv your videos btw
I aim to please 😊 thank you!
He loves playing around with notes :)
Yess my favorite pianist
Oh, there's a prank where Cateen joins a blind audition. Would be cool to do a reaction on that.

Ordinary days and fly high

You could well be right! I have a feeling there are maybe several references that I missed! 😊
You're really perfect Matthew I love your content
Another great video from Mr. Cawood
Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Ur such an underrated channel
you def need to upload your ballade no1 performance!
Hey Matthew 👋, I asked few queries through your web .....hope to get answer soon (sorry if I sound impatient actually I am over excited)
New video let’s go!
Love this ❤ ⭐️⭐️
He looks like Nathan Chen wearing his signature black shirt costume skating to nemesis 😅
"Now that's almost criminal" 😂😂😂
Im watching Cateen next month and am so excited!
That is very exciting, where is he playing? 😊
@@matticawood He is playing in Baltimore under Marin Alsop! A short train ride from where I live in Washington DC!
Thanks for your great video!
Nice analysis! I would like to see you review Cateens latest video, where he plays Turkish March variations in all 24 keys.
Twinkle twinkle little star is basically Mozart's variations but with the lyrics 'twinkle twinkle...'
1:05 can’t tell if this is a joke, but I think that this first one is Mozart’s variations

I'd like to hear your own variations on a popular theme!
Il have to find a very recognisable tune! 😊
@@matticawood Please do!
More cateen pls!
you should react to Marigold piano cover by Phyxinon, would be an interresting video
Hi Mather
Mathew you should checkout 12 Levels of Technical Difficulty by FriskaPiano. Would be interesting to hear your opinion on each level.
Il check it out! 😊
