Kate said the dying of her hair kept damaging it badly, which is why they let her grow her natural color (dark brown) out. I personally think she looks her best as a honey brunette. But that's just me. :)
I really liked Casey Deidrick as Chad too bad he left, but Billy Flynn gives the comedic affect of Chad that I like. But I have not seen that lately sadly.
