    Man I love this video. You made some very nice sounds that glue well together in a cool jam. Thanks for walking us through your process.

    I've seen a hundred videos where people explain the basics of FM but hardly anyone actual shows how to make useful patches with it; thanks!

    Thx for this. I use the deluge for sequencing external gear mostly, using internal sounds generally only as placeholders. I know that the synth engine is capable enough, but it’s also impenetrable somehow at the same time. If I were to be honest, it’s not the best sounding subtractive synth to my ears no matter how deep you dive. But FM tones like this sound good.

      I share your opinion on the deluge synth. Nevertheless I'm very glad it's there. Often times I sketch things on the deluge first and than connect an external synth later on. I think once you get a bit of a feel for what it does well you can get some great results with it. There also have been some occasion where I tried to replace a deluge synth track with some external synths and ended up going back to the deluge deciding that it sounded best for that particular application.

    Again, another informative video, I've a few clicky fm sounds, its been the re trig phase.. sorted and fixing.. cheers 😀

      @easytiger1452  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      thanks! I remember scratching my head at some clicks fm sounds as well before I figured out how to fix this with the phase setting😁 for legato sounds it's the opposite way around btw. retriggering the phase will introduce clicking.

    At 10:00 you really quickly went over something that I am sure others, like me, might miss. You're not changing the master volume to 0, which would mute all the notes so we can't hear them. Instead you are removing the modulation of velocity on master level. Which means that you can add as much or little velocity as you want to your notes without affecting volume, because velocitynow modulates something else than master level. That something else being fm mod 2 level.
    I know you say this in the video, but I just had trouble seeing what you actually did and when it clicked I was like "ooooh, now I get it!".
    Also, thanks for a great video!

    • @easytiger1452
      @easytiger1452  ปีที่แล้ว

      Good point. I probably went over that a bit too quickly. The velocity to volume mod is by default set to 50 and has a huge impact on the overall volume of the sound. So I think for many applications it makes sense to dial it down a bit.

    Pair it with a small key controller and a fader fox and you would have a really sweet setup.

    the device is far too complicated. absolutely unsuitable for spontaneous jam sessions. why a device for which you first need an engineering degree to operate it. any $300 Behringer or Korg synthy will do that too...

    • @Kevvywevvy
      @Kevvywevvy ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey, it's totally suitable for impromptu jam's, a bitty home work pays off, most synthesis is similar in all synths tbh. Just master the basics, dive in 😀

      @@Kevvywevvy fyi: Deluge has updated its display, so it is easier… the strength of Deluge imo is in its sequencer as it provides wider “work-space” as most machines provide 4x 16 step patterns that greatly limit construction of longer patters and musical ideas that need to go beyond (of 4x16 step patterns). Deluge has a nice “piano roll” style of sequencer which is better then on most hardware machines to this day. And it’s not that complicated…

    • @Kevvywevvy

      @odalvkardum7278 yup, I totally agree. New Oled has its benefits, I'm sure. For now, the Retro 7 segment display works for me. But Hey, one day, I may take that leap 😀

      New display helps mostly with file names and folders and setup menus. While editing patches it does not give much new if shortcuts are used. I upgraded mine and actually i feel a bit liking the old one now for the looks.
