I feel like it is equivalent to white comedians using a Southern accent or a thick Irish accent when they perform a skit. It perpetuates stereotypes, but it can be done thoughtfully and if you are inside of the club throwing jokes it is generally acceptable it is when people outside the club try to repeat those jokes it is not well received 😬.
