In all fairness as a security guard; companies will hire anyone with a pulse and always need guards. Some of the smaller ones hire pretty fuckin quickly depending on where it is. AUS you can be in the door at your contract within a week.

    • @339blackdiamond

Fr. Even companies that don't really specialize in security. I was 17, and my sister's friends asked me If I was looking for a job. Her mother ran a small hotel, and needed someone for 2 night shifts. Just hanging at the reception desk, and making sure people didn't try to get in the pool area, if drunk people make noise past 12pm, just call the cops.
Said yes, her mother called me a few days later. Started the night after my interview. 2 night shift of sitting at the reception desk. Tought I was only getting those 2 shifts, but the boss ended up talking to me at the end of that 2nd shift like she would be trying to find me a spot somewhere. Fast foward a week, i'm now the kitchen dishwasher. Did that for 3 years, ended up becomming a cook. Quit during the pandemic, and now i'm working at an alluminium casting facility. Eyeing a woodmill job next 😂
But to think that I got my first rope in the job buisness being a "security" night watch is odd in some ways. But it seems like a good job to start up something in this world.

  • @Mr.Glidehook
    @Mr.Glidehook หลายเดือนก่อน +19

I've worked a lot of jobs on swing and graveyard shifts, including as a security guard. It's a time where a fertile imagination can drive you insane, and fighting that insanity is never easy. But the worst job, although I loved the work and the less crowded I-95, was driving an 18-wheeler. You see things nobody else would see. Sometimes it's beautiful, like a distant skyline, with lights. You know the city is still active in the small hours, but you go through a tunnel and find yourself bypassing the busy part. It's peaceful; even the static of CB channel 19 occasionally giving a blast from nearby truckers, but then you go a bit further. Nothing but darkness. No highway lights. No cars. Nothing but white lines flashing by.
One night, travelling through Connecticut, I hit a route my directions had me exit onto, and even FM radio signals were mostly static. The lanes of each direction were separated by trees. I began to wish that my dispatcher had let me work local in Baltimore like I usually did, picking up loads at Lever Brothers in Dundalk and dropping them off at our terminal for the over-the-road drivers to pick up.
I began feeling uneasy, but couldn't figure out any reason for it. Sometimes the feeling comes when there's a bad accident ahead. But again, no CB chatter broke the static, no emergency vehicles passed me. And this feeling wasn't like that anyway. Only a turn east on a route I can't remember (it was 1989: do you remember what that was like?? Neon was everywhere including rubber tubes for guys with spiked hair or mullets to fasten onto their sunglasses, bicycle shorts were a real thing, and music sucked) I began to breathe easier. Years would pass. Then I would learn how close I probably was to Dudleytown, a supposed haunted or cursed former town, claimed by woods. I know I had to have been off-route, but how'd that happen?
Other creepy and tragic things happened. One night while approaching the Fort McHenry Tunnel from the south, where the interstate is elevated, I had a sickening, doom-like feeling in my gut. I slowed down, geared way down, and sure enough, blue lights were everywhere. I crept up and passed on the far right, and saw this car lying on its driver's side with the roof against the jersey wall. Toll cops were running along the wall, looking over it and down with their flashlights. Even driving a rig, I never thought that the north and south lanes were separate. I thought the concrete walls were what separated them. Not so: there's a big gap, and the driver had climbed out of her car through the passenger side window, climbed down to the wall, and then fallen 60-70 feet to an instant death. I did grow to finally hate night shit, which is responsible for a million horror stories, but none so horrible as real life. You've done a good job, though. I was keen to hear it all. I have no doubt that it has its roots in real life.

Very interesting, thanks for sharing. I couldn't do those kind of shifts because I fall asleep too easily and I always thought that people who have to drive at night for work should be paid more, at least.
But if we put safety aside, it must be extremely fascinating to see things from such an unusual perspective

Seeing as how the janitor was never mentioned by the manager leading up to the start of the shift, the twist seemed fairly obvious. Especially after he fizzled out on camera, and disappeared from sight after rounding the corner. I was waiting for the "what janitor" line by the manager at the end. Now if the main character had also mentioned the list of rules the janitor gave him, only to not be able to find them, that may have added a little more impact, because then the main character, and by extension, us the audience would be left to ponder if the janitor was in fact an entity of the mall, or if the entire thing had all been in his head.

Years ago I was a night shift security supervisor at the second largest shopping mall in the Chicago /Bloomingdale IL area. I can relate to some of your story but one thing that wasn't accurate is that mall security won't have access to the internal stores the internal stores are owned/leased by companies. If I was on patrol and I came across say an American Eagle store and the back door or the front gate was not locked we would have to call that particular stores key holder or manager to drive back into the mall. We would then also contact the Bloomingdale Police Department and when they all arrived we would then with the police and the store employee check the store to make sure that nobody was stealing anything resecure it and then they would clear the scene and we would continue on patrol. But in general not a bad little story. There's many times where I would be on patrol in that dark empty mall at night and I would have similar thoughts to what your story was about.. funny thing was if that happened to me in real life I wouldn't have quit like your protagonist I would have embraced it I would have became friends with the entity lol

Fun story, but a slower burn could have served it better. The mall being obviously haunted was revealed far too early in my opinion, what with the whole mannequin scene happening what seemed to be mere minutes into the main character's shift. I think the scene, while affective in the moment shouldn't have played out with the main character confirming the mannequins were in fact moving. I think the tension would have been ramped up, and sustained much longer that way. Showing the mannequins moving so early on in a way cheapens everything else that happens (or maybe doesn't happen) afterwards in the story. I also personally felt the "what janitor?" line coming from a mile away, so it's not the twist others here in the comments like to think it is. I think what could have been much more affective on top of the manager asking "what janitor?" would have been if the main character had tried to show the manager the list of rules given to him by the janitor to follow, only to not be able to find it. Leaving the main character, and by extention us the audience to ponder if the janitor was an entity of the mall, or if the events of the story were simply all in the main character's head.

This Creepypasta is seriously spine-chilling! 😱 The story of working as a nightguard at a mall with strict rules to follow really pulls you in, especially as the tension builds with each new rule and mysterious event. The sense of isolation, the eerie silence of the mall after hours, and the strange happenings make for a terrifying combination. It’s the kind of story that makes you question what might be lurking in the shadows when you're alone. If you enjoy stories that play on your fear of the unknown, this one will keep you up at night! 🖤👀

Worked as a night guard for years. Everything about this is a tall glass of nope. I'm locking myself in the office and waiting for sunrise. Your life is worth more than $15 an hour.

Love the narrator voice but I would would also like if the background match the the mall at least. The convenient store in the background was nice but wish it was a picture of the Mall

A security guard has some kind of weapon : a trained dog, a peper spray equipment, a tazer, a gun of some type...

really enjoyed this video, great storytelling and it kept me on the edge of my seat! but honestly, I don't get why people would want to work as a nightguard in such an eerie place. I feel like it's just asking for trouble, right? like, what’s the draw?

this video was really engaging and well-made! i enjoyed the storytelling, but i can't help but wonder if some of the "rules" were a bit exaggerated for dramatic effect. i mean, it's a mall, not a haunted house, right?

Why not get your phone out and film the walking mannequins and sell the footage for millions. There are a couple of Twilight Zone episodes involving mannequins which this upload reminded me of, they were a bit creepy. If you wrote the script well done it's easy listening.
