When that happens people tend to stop caring about things like bathing, shaving, wearing clean clothes, etc. I think it's pretty evident that Guy is cracking up probably because of killing Marian. Armitage does a great job of Guy's character going off the deep end even just with little things like the blank stare and occasional twitches.
@MAnnaconduit1 They don't include any of that in the series, though. To me, this is like a fan fiction story: they take the characters, relationships, and settings and add new plots, characters, settings, and relationships. It doesn't necessarily follow history.
Just to clarify about the ring, most of you are right, Robin never gave Marian a purple ring, this is the first time that accessory has been shown in the show. Their engagement ring was green, The wedding ring was red.

He killed her because he was upset over her loving Robin instead of him. And don't forget that for a long time, she acted like she loved. She nearly married him but left him at the altar, and she's even kissed him willingly and for no apparent reason besides thanks. It's really no surprise he reacted so violently when you think about how his life's been.
Robin, you promise-breaker! You PROMISED marian you'd KEEP FIGHTING. and well, i suppose u did, u fought yourself. But sometimes you just gotta do what's right, and though the consequences are harsh, no one EVER said it would be easy. But sometimes losses must happen to have peace restored.
i can not stress this enough but for god sake please get your props correct, marians first ring robin gave her in the tree was kind of circled shaped and it had green in the middle, then her second ring that he gave her which was the one king richard gave robin to give to her as they were getting married in the holy land was like ovaled shaped and a kind of redish colour so why on earth is her ring now a much smaller ring that is circled shaped and purple ?R.I.P marian and i love her and robin
Ok, all of a sudden there is a CANYON in the Middle of Sherwood Forest that was never there before, and why is a Monk offering to take Guy's confession, they were not allowed to do that, only a priest could. Cadfael gets this right at least.
