A customer reaction to finished peice would be great to see. Some kind of tag or info to put on the peice when done with your info would give you and your business more recognition

It’s just unbelievable what you did to that piece. So much work. It’s probably took a month or more to fix it all. Its a piece of art now. I hope your customer appreciates your hard work. I love to refinish furniture myself, but your level of skill and equipment is times better than mine. I am learning something new from every of your videos. Thank you Trena.

I'm so happy to see that there are still people out there that can look at a antique piece of furniture and fall in love with it enough to seek someone out like you to bring it back to life !
There's still hope for America , between the crying rooms and the tearing down of our statues and history of America . There still is hope.
    Thanks your awesome lady.

She's Canadian and there's no hope for America. It is so divided politically right now that it makes the Grand Canyon look like a scratch on the face of the earth. The world used to have a great deal of respect for America, but now we just shake our heads. It's a crying shame.

You might consider turning yourself a mallet or 2 out of Osage Orange. With the striking surface round it tells you hand where it hit, on or off center and you will learn to adjust without ever looking at the mallet. I have one I turned 40 years ago and it is still in good condition. Turn a freshly cut chunk to rough size then coat it with something to slow moisture change. Much later turn to finished size. This is to prevent checking.

I have made guitars for some 58 years and I have found that using a piece of expanded polystyrene as a sanding block is preferable to using a piece of wood or just using my fingers to hold the piece of abrasive paper. This I find can adapt to the shape of the piece of wood that I am sanding far better.

If you've ever wondered why all those really old antiques have that dark mahogany stain, it hides a multitude of sins. You would have to get on your hands and knees to see the splice in the feet with such an excellent carving job. Oh and that little silver piece on the right was from the volume knob! You would pull a rod in and out to allow more sound from the phonograph to the speaker cone.

I’m currently working on a 1906 Victrola VV-215 for a client. She’s basically having me renovate it for a modern sound system, separating the record player, removing the divider between the record shelves cavity and the speaker cavity, building a bottom where the record player was, and doing a complete refinish.
I’ve done just about everything but the finish thusfar. My first attempt at a French polish has gone horribly. 😅

This piece reminds me of the 78rpmMono spring-loaded record player that was the first one in my earliest years that I enjoyed putting my ear up onto the front carved listening 🎶 area on the R/side. My parents had a large collection of mostly symphonies & operas. I would sit infront of it & pretend I was conducting the orchestra...loved the many hours, especially on rainy ☔️days in Hilo, H🌦🏝🏖⛰️🏔🌋 🌊🩴where I was born (1949) & raised (🌈paradise👣🫂🏄‍♀️👩‍🍼🧠)! One of the 78s was a Enrico Caruso opera. Still remember the smell of the livingroom with its baby-grand Steinway piano, etc. Later came the intro to 33rpm & 45's Stereophonic records (upgraded to a spring-load stacking Magnavox cabinet record player) that greatly expanded our myriad music collection of records (& stair-stepped siblings)... ln 1958 came a Zenith portable b/w 📺 then (1959) a color Magnavox cabinet TV... with adjustable "rabbit ears." My sister had every commercial jingle in her head&came out verbally, so my mother's favorite thing to say to us was "go outside & play" after chores were done. [ Again, you are terrific, so experienced... A Master Craftswoman!!! ] Thanks sooo much for the trigger into my wonderful memories!!! 💝😃🫂👣
