In the end they actually do want everyone to come back. But when they reenter the school to rebuild their friends everyone is gone. That hit hard. Finding out phos never abandoned their goal and was just caught in a rage bc of all the rejection they faced. I think in the end phos will pray for everyone because that's what they always wanted. Peace for everyone even if they themself can't have it. None of what they did was meant to harm anybody they only wanted the best for the gems who only showed them little kindness.
The part where phos sees himself (his old self) running in front of him and asks "Who's that? Adorable." Is just like how ventricosus described what death is to phos in the early chapters. Phosphophyllite died a long time ago.

In hindsight , Phos was manipulated from the very beginning . He was banished from the hills and he didn't fit in with the lunarians . He was pressured to take action and the struggle made him hate Sensei. I was shocked from the realization that no one actually cared for him except those inactive gems ( Antarc , Padrasch , Lapiz Lazuli?) They were the ones who truly understood what he was fighting for. Phos loved the other gems too much and it led to his downfall. He achieved peace but at what cost?
I think Dia also sincerely cared for phos and maybe cinnabar as well. They were far from showing it but they observed phos closely and never forgot who they were.
And Sensei must have cared for phos. His love for all the gems and his desire for them to be happy is what made him develop an ego and therefore become unable to pray. It wouldn't make sense for him to just somehow dislike this one gem when one of the key parts about his character is that unconditional love for every gem.

There will always be problems in the world, and world peace will only happen once we all die. Sometimes things have to be sad , and that’s okay. That just means the happy things will be happier.
I never thought I would say this, but I just want it to end now. My mind and heart have become soo attached to the characters, especially Phos, that it emotionally and spiritually hurts to think about the predicament they're in and everything that has unfolded. sometimes I think about this series as a whole, the amount of pain and loss that Phos has suffered, how despite everything they've sacrificed and how much they've given up, the only thing the other gems have to say to them is "thank you" "thanks for bringing me to the moon" "thanks for your promise" it isn't fair to them. it isn't fair that Phos has had to give up so much and the other gems just see it as them doing a favor. the way their life has been completely planned from the start by aechmea is not fair, they were doomed to fall. there was nothing that could have saved them and it makes me so upset because they were such an innocent spirit who just wanted to help their family and have a purpose and og my god ichikawa you are evil why would you do this

This story is a true tragedy, because it’s not just sad, it’s not trying to hurt the reader just for the sake of hurting them. The happy moments mattered just as much as the heartbreaking moments. Phos and their journey mattered no matter how badly it ended and that’s cathartic, that’s a true tragedy.
I hate how dia is now. They never even tried to change, and when they went to the moon to finally find themselves, Dia's only goal was to "destroy the competition". Dia didn't even win in the end, and instead of my sympathising for dia I can't help but feel sorry for everyone BUT dia.
I can understand how you feel, but you have to understand that Dia was poisoned from the start. She had always suffered from a massive inferiority complex, and the gems simply do not have the perspective to even understand what that is. There are only what, thirty odd of them? Hardly a sample size for psychological study. Besides that, as evidenced by their lack of an encyclopedia, their collection of knowledge is haphazard at best. I see a lot of hate for the gems in general for what they did to Phos, but more than anything I pity them. They didn't even understand that their actions would lead to Phos' alienation, they couldn't have even known they were destroying themselves. If anything, the lunarians are to blame. They have tens of thousands of years of experience to draw from and their best solution to their problem was to be massive dickheads until Adamant gave them what they wanted. An incredibly human solution.

I really hate the gems that stayed at the earth and blamed on Phos. He only tried to help everyone the whole time, everyone manipulated him and tho only one who didn’t do it was the master, but instead he lied him and was selfish. And even after that Phos still felt guilty , nobody except for Artactite (i don ‘t remembre the name perfectly) cared about him. Jade worried about him, but didn’t care. I want to hug him, he needs a real hug.
I heard cinnabar's ost and it just pulls at my heartstrings making me overwhelmed. I don't exactly feel sad but the emotion is so great I cried the first time I heard it and still get teary. I haven't watched this anime nor read the manga. From every comment I have read on any video about this story I know it will batter my heart but I'm still drawn to it like moth to fire. I'm barely resisting now. If I come upon this anime or manga once more I'll surely resign then and read the manga.
I used to want peace for them. Now I cry for salvation, that their voices may be heard. That phos may finally rest undisturbed. That everyone can forget and pass on gently. I just want them to gently go into that dark night and be free from this endless eternal cycle of fighting, pain, and damnation. Let it end, let them rest... let them die
Its amazing to see how many people (like me) read the entire manga in one day. That goes to show how powerful the manga is and how good it must be to captivate such a large number of peoples interests for such a long period of time.
I think original phos is barely there anymore since everytime you they lose a part they lose memories and phos has like barely any of their original parts still.
At this point only the trunk is Phos and it's all broken, so it's less than a third probably. The rest is Lapis' head, alloy, agate, a Lunarian eye, and Kongou-sensei's other eye
i still can't forgive any of the gems. the lunarians were already the dregs of humanity, driven mad by immortality. But the gems were raised with love and care, and were still so thoughtlessly cruel and self-serving. I guess that's what's "inhuman" about them: their perpetual childishness, being innocent and still so hurtful at the same time.
*Spoiler* To me I think the worst of it is Adamant still loves Phos, even after all they've done. He never harbored any ill will towards Phos and even encouraged the earth gems to join them. Even when Phos destroyed Adamant he thanked Phos for relieving him of his duty.

The moment Phos returns to earth with the gang and the fucktons of Lunarian army and then massacred everyone's reminds me of the eclipse scene in Berserk
Houseki no Kuni is my favourite manga of all time. It may not be the best, Berserk, 20th century boys, vagabond and some other mangas from the 90's may be objectively better, but no other story made me feel emotions as deep as the ones i felt while reading this story. It is forever inside my heart as the most beautiful, heartbreaking and meaningfull manga i've ever read. Edit: i legit cried watching this video, it caught me off guard.

It's all a tragic mismash of ideals, perceptions and goals clashing. Phos is the ultimate sacrificial pawn in all of this. Only a few understood him and loved him. You wish everyone else could as well. No good deed goes unpunished. That Pray scene was incredibly powerful and sad

I really hate the gems that stayed at the earth and blamed on Phos. He only tried to help everyone the whole time, everyone manipulated him and tho only one who didn’t do it was the master, but instead he lied him and was selfish.
And even after that Phos still felt guilty , nobody except for Artactite (i don ‘t remembre the name perfectly) cared about him. Jade worried about him, but didn’t care.
I want to hug him, he needs a real hug.
Actually he did what he set out to do, revive all the lost gems.

I heard cinnabar's ost and it just pulls at my heartstrings making me overwhelmed. I don't exactly feel sad but the emotion is so great I cried the first time I heard it and still get teary. I haven't watched this anime nor read the manga. From every comment I have read on any video about this story I know it will batter my heart but I'm still drawn to it like moth to fire. I'm barely resisting now. If I come upon this anime or manga once more I'll surely resign then and read the manga.

I used to want peace for them. Now I cry for salvation, that their voices may be heard. That phos may finally rest undisturbed. That everyone can forget and pass on gently. I just want them to gently go into that dark night and be free from this endless eternal cycle of fighting, pain, and damnation. Let it end, let them rest... let them die
Its amazing to see how many people (like me) read the entire manga in one day. That goes to show how powerful the manga is and how good it must be to captivate such a large number of peoples interests for such a long period of time.
Every issue adds more context to the story.... and makes it all so much more fucked

I think original phos is barely there anymore since everytime you they lose a part they lose memories and phos has like barely any of their original parts still.

At this point only the trunk is Phos and it's all broken, so it's less than a third probably. The rest is Lapis' head, alloy, agate, a Lunarian eye, and Kongou-sensei's other eye
Phos is still there, but is drowned from the pain, and trauma they have been through. Trying to get back to the phos before is purely impossible.
i still can't forgive any of the gems. the lunarians were already the dregs of humanity, driven mad by immortality. But the gems were raised with love and care, and were still so thoughtlessly cruel and self-serving. I guess that's what's "inhuman" about them: their perpetual childishness, being innocent and still so hurtful at the same time.
But I just can't hate them, especially Euclase and somewhat Jade. And I am so conflicted about Cinnabar too

To me I think the worst of it is Adamant still loves Phos, even after all they've done. He never harbored any ill will towards Phos and even encouraged the earth gems to join them. Even when Phos destroyed Adamant he thanked Phos for relieving him of his duty.

The moment Phos returns to earth with the gang and the fucktons of Lunarian army and then massacred everyone's reminds me of the eclipse scene in Berserk
Houseki no Kuni is my favourite manga of all time. It may not be the best, Berserk, 20th century boys, vagabond and some other mangas from the 90's may be objectively better, but no other story made me feel emotions as deep as the ones i felt while reading this story. It is forever inside my heart as the most beautiful, heartbreaking and meaningfull manga i've ever read.

@@welcomecoffin2124 I've gotten to chap 95 and boy it was brutal. Also feel like a lot of people misunderstand these characters just as much as they misunderstand each other lmao. It's all a tragic mismash of ideals, perceptions and goals clashing.
Phos is the ultimate sacrificial pawn in all of this. Only a few understood him and loved him. You wish everyone else could as well. No good deed goes unpunished.
That Pray scene was incredibly powerful and sad
