    I had the regular XL1200C (same spec, same model year but different color) back in 1998. I only got my license for a month, then I bought the Sportster. Loved it! I only read this 95th anniversary model in magazine. It's a rare bike.

    Thanks so much for the video! I just picked up the same bike at the local Harley dealership with 27,000 miles. Cant wait to take her out. Got it for $1800, so I'm happy with that.

      @@ThamsWorld no, I haven't done a vlog before. Maybe one day I'll try one. Bike runs and rides nice. Had to do a few minor things to it but all in all it's great.

      @@gsabella4 Im down south in Louisiana, I took a trip to the Harley dealership and they were a day from changing ownership. I believe they were trying to clear out some used inventory so they gave me a great deal on this bike. So I guess I got lucky..lol. So far the bike runs great. I just love the older bikes because they are so easy to work on and parts are cheap. There is just something special about the older Harley's. I did a full tuneup on the bike: Oil change, primary oil change, new air filter and spark plugs (didnt have too but I didnt know when the last time the stuff was done). I cleaned the carb with a rebuild kit which was pretty easy and cheap. The only issue I have encountered were old screws that were stripped or close to stripping. I replaced the screws on the throttle housing and Carb with stainless steel hex. The primary oil plug was slightly stripped so I am going to have to re thread the hole, however the bike has not leaked any. Bike fires right up and runs like a charm. I wish you luck with finding one, I highly recommend one. The number on mine is #2474 out of the 3000 made. The owner who had the bike removed the baffles from the screaming eagle slip ons, and GOSH this thing is LOUD. Going to try and quiet it down a little bit.

      Dawgs241 still enjoying the bike? Thinking about getting a ‘97.

      @@hewhostaysgolden9312 still going strong. I re jetted the carb and put a Arlen Ness big sucker on it and it runs great. I am about to wrap the pipes.

    That's a gorgeous bike!
    Btw, the Customs didn't have the big tank until 2004 when they came out with the rubber mount sportster.

    Just found one today in my area with only 14K miles for $2,500. Never had an HD before but I’m wanting a bobber or chopper project and looks like a sporty is a great base to build off.

    I have a chance to get one in excellent unmolested original condition, it has good original tires, seat, windshield, air cleaner etc. with under 5k miles, what is a fair price if it needs carb work and if the carb work is done? I know these are rare but it seems Sportsters from this vintage are hard to sell, aren't bringing much over 3k and many aren't bringing that.

    Anyone looking into getting one of these, if it is for sale under 3500, and in decent shape, get it. These are getting hard as hell to find. Ive got one, and would like to keep it under 5k miles. I want another to customize for riding, purely ride associated mods.

    • @Ungineered
      @Ungineered 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Actually it's a XL 1200 Custom, it rides 1-2 inches lower than the XLH but is taller so same overall height and is about an inch shorter, solid back wheel etc

    • @jordanasel3745
      @jordanasel3745 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Holok the custom comes with a bigger tank

    • @Ungineered
      @Ungineered 6 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's a Sporters Custom, I have the owner's manual and the same model standing in my garage, it's an XL 1200 Custom like stated before, the fuel tank for the 1998 models at least are the same size.
      But don't take my word for it
      www.harley-davidson.com/shop/parts/1998-sportster-sportster-1200-custom-xl1200c
      check the tank cover, it's for the same 3,3 gal tank as the rest of the XL models from 97-03 during which you could have the same tank on the custom as you could on the XLH :)
