Pretty vehicles are sometimes only skin-deep pretty. We will see. Many depts have said they're happy with their Rosies. Great advise from the guide: Don't over-engineer the thing. Listen to the manufacturers' product engineers.

It says a lot that many other manufacturers still use old school piano hinges for their doors while Rosenbauer builts modern doors.

What it says is they're an Austrian (EU) company.

Nice If I'm getting a ladder Truck or a Tower Ladder I'm getting a Pump panel I'm not waiting on water .I know a Lot of Departments go without a Pumps, but Mostly it's because they can't afford it or there just traditional.

That is simplistic reasoning. I think NYC could afford quints if they wanted them. They're traditional but not totally adverse to new concepts. They simply do not need quints. They have over 200 engines, each of which can pump 2000 gpm. Their trucks are full of truck tools. There just isn't much call for elevated master streams. FDNY employs an aggressive interior attack >90% of the time for structures. When they do need them for a barn burning then they strike another alarm & get four more engines in a jiffy. Quints weigh more, cost more, & require more training & maintenance. Quints setting up for water attack along with throwing up their aerial requires dividing the crew. Both actions may be slowed. Having an engine lay in & hooking up to your truck with water means two crews do the two jobs, quicker & with more experience. Quints may be great, or at least necessary, for smaller depts. FDNY is not a small dept. Neither is Atlanta, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Denver, DC, Houston, Kansas City, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Francisco, Seattle, etc. Rust Belt cities like Buffalo, Cleveland, & Detroit use some quints, for economy & due to the high numbers of vacant dwelling & derelict factory fires. Make purchase decisions based on all the factors, not just your preconceived notions & feelings: Space, call volume & types, potential fire load, budget, manpower, distances, roadway & traffic conditions, etc. Also, what has worked well in your area in the past & what hasn't. What has changed recently? Manufacturing has left & mini MacMansionville is now crammed onto a small development with plenty of narrow 90 degree bends & cul-de-sacs. Gotta love 'developers.'

How can it be considered a quint, when you have no hose?

Hey sorry I missed this comment before. We meet the minimum requirement per NFPA for supply line on the truck. So we can meet the Quint Designation on paper. - Deputy Chief Ridley

Technically, it meets all NFPA standards as a quint. There is no specific requirement for a LDH speed lay on the rear. Therefore, it could be stored as rolls or packs. There are several crosslays here for hand lines.
