Living History at Philmont

This is the story of the living history program at Philmont Scout Ranch, consisting of more than 214 square miles near Cimarron, New Mexico.
Each summer, staffers disperse into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains to reenact rich history that took place along the Santa Fe trail. From mountain men and loggers to miners and railroaders, the staffers dive into their characters creating an immersive backpacking experience shared by more than 22,000 campers every summer.
Owned and operated by the Boy Scouts of America, Philmont Scout Ranch has served over one million participants since 1939.
