A long time ago, in Bengal and the regions around, there were two sects that existed. The Mahawats believed in celebrations through song & dance and idol-worship; and the Shariyats believed that prayer through song & dance was disrespectful. Shantanu was intrigued by this rift and decided to make this theme a part of his set.
This song was suggested by Bonnie Chakravarthy's as Shantanu wanted to do something really traditional, about a side of Bengal that people had forgotten. Bonnie sings the song Baul-style which sets the perfect tone for its treatment & arrangement.

Meaning:
A beautiful traditional sufi praise for the workings of a great Sufi Saint, Hazrat Khwaja Moinuddin Hasan Chishty. A spiritual healer, Khwaja Baba was known for prayers through his spiritual songs and soulful music. He being an Enlightened Soul used these lyrical strings to pray and connect to the Almighty.
Song mentions a very touching conversation between an elder Peer and Khwaja. Peer enquires about Khwaja's frail state of the body, Khwaja beautifully responds by explaining that the love of The Almighty keeps his soul satiated, and thus he loses track of time.
Song moves forward to explain the workings of The Almighty...as to how he appoints Peers, to be his representatives on earth. How they uphold the light of his eternal truth and spread his messages to the earthly beings and how these enlightened souls beautifully connect heaven and earth, sacrificing their entire lives for the well being of humanity.
Khwaja reiterates the fact that, his songs are intoxication of divine love...and if this true love is not understood and pursued, life becomes an uphill task.

The Baul's of Bengal are Pir's or Fakirs. Heavily influenced by Bhatiyali , which are sons of Majhi's and also from Hindu Kirtan and Sufi. Baul songs often speak of Krishna and in the same breath will speak of Khwaja and Allah. So its pretty difficult to put a finger on specifics in this genre. Is one big original melting pot of fusion. বাংলাদেশে খাজা বাবা গান টা যে শ্রদ্ধা আর ভালবাসা দিয়ে গাওয়া হয় তার বিন্দু পরিমান লেশ এই পরিবেশন টা তে পেলাম না। খাজা বাবার এই গানটা তে একটা অন্যরকম মাদকতা আছে, কিন্তু এই পরিবেশন টা তে পুরো গানের কোথাও সেই স্বাদ পেলাম না। বরং মনে হল জোর করে বিদেশী বাদ্যযন্ত্র দিয়ে গানটা কে গাওয়ানো হল। যারা বললেন গানের কম্পজিশন ভাল হয়েছে তারা কি ভেবে এই কথা বললেন তা আমার কাছে অস্পষ্ট। গান কিন্তু বাদ্যযন্ত্র আর তালের জন্য ভাল হয় না, গান তখন ই পরিপূর্ণ হয় যখন গায়ক মন থেকে গান পরিবেশন করেন। আশা করব পরবর্তী তে কোন গানকে এভাবে অশ্রদ্ধা করবেন না। মন্তব্যে কারো আঘাত লাগলে মার্জনীয়, ধন্যবাদ।
