  • This time we meet staff from Sheffield's Royal Hallamshire Hospital and community Neurological Enablement Service talking about the healthcare that someone with ataxia should expect from their local GP and neurology services. The team also describe the services they provide at their Ataxia UK-accredited Specialist Ataxia Centre.

I am under the specialist and nurse in this video and can honestly say I could not have wished for a better or more reassuring consultant and nurse .....they do a fantastic job as do the physiotherapists

I wish there was an organization like this in the US. I am struggling with vertigo now and my Kaiser doctor could not care less.

You need a doctor that’s interested in your health problems. It took me a long time and a family members coming with me to get a referral. The gp service is appalling but the Sheffield team are fabulous.

Hi Saif, thank you for your message.
Unfortunately, we've announced very recently that the Specialist Ataxia Centre in Newcastle is to close, as we're losing our specialist neurologist. This demonstrates the need for our continual work in raising funds for ataxia research projects, and ataxia specialists. Thank you very much,
      Ataxia UK.

@@AtaxiaUKonline i think honda and hyundai have developed skeletal robotics which prevent falls and are anti tilt. These prosthetics must be introduced in hospital. Medical robotics are a significant help in preventing falls!!! The problem with neurologists is that they are not feeling the urgency nor the pain and hopelessness of their patients, which are making the neurologist appointments pointless!!!

saif Malik I agree I enquired about stem cell therapy which I had found on my research on the Internet. He said not helpful to spend money on life’s pleasures instead! I said these are few and far between in my life now. Just go home and get on with it ! No support groups where I live and gp etc don’t know if any drugs that can help!
