Real story behind the song. When he was young, Lewis' aunt took her life. He wrote this song after talking to his mother about it. It's more or less a retell of his mom's story. Thing about Lewis is that he is an incredibly funny guy, like comedian grade funny guy, but most his songs are sad. Some of those songs are retells of conversations he had with people. He did not go through that himself, because he says he was maybe 4-5 years old when this went down, but i guess he gets it and maybe he is a very empathic guy because he sure gets the emotions through! Anyway, he's one of those singer/songwriter that is worth checking out.

It's basically from the perspective of someone left behind after their loved one commits suicide!! All the things you wish you had noticed, said, done differently and whether anything you did differently could have possibly changed the outcome!

I take from the video that this girl was shown being there for other people in her life and yet no one is there when she needs them because she hides her feelings not because they don't/didn't care. It just goes to show that you just don't know what someone else is going through. We need to try to be kinder.

I love the fact that these days people dont have to fit the traditional mold to be successful in music, thanks to youtube and other social media its becoming a new era in music where you dont need a fancy contract. You can be independent and be more successful than a contracted artist that is pushed into a particular political and mainstream bubble.

You missed a voicemail message at the end of the video; It really hits home the content of the song.
