Honestly I'm a bit relieved this didn't usurp the meta too much. Throwing our what I've managed to get already would be exhausting. Instead, the flexibility to sneak in specific profane/artifact bonuses that I'm missing will make tetris easier, I think...
@@Kydrou That'd be nice. Saves bonuses as well. Having stuff like this separated doesn't create interesting choices in gearing it just makes the tetris frustrating and needlessly complex.
Just wanted to add that set augments can be used with these new moon and sun augments. Not that you can put a set augment in one of those slots but if you have 3 sun items you put 3 sun augments in and 3 set augments for a total of 4 bonuses across 3 items.
Good point! And you're right set augments will not override like they do normal set bonuses. That's a great benefit to the sun/moon augments I didn't consider.
Hey Axel, Awesome video 😊! I think your on the money with your first impressions. Gear at cap seems to of the same power level as prior content which is great for those who wish to keep their current gear. I've spent a few hours on lamania trying to put a new tetris together for one of my gear sets and found it difficult to reach the same power level. Stuff like GoMF still seem relavent since itll be craftable to 34 now the level cap is increasing and sets like Raven's eye and Vulkoor's might are not bonuses found on MD loot, meaning its position in the tetris is still unchanged. In some cases its difficult to match the power of older sets since items like Perfected sora kell 3set provides 6 artifact bonuses on 3 items where the best that can be achived with MD loot is 4 artifact effects on 3items. Perhaps preview 2 of the gear will have some changes but id say the MD is even a little weak, maybe theyll add another stat or replace some of the useless fluff like resistance to an element or fortitude saves. I think the real win with the new loot is similar to how it is with vecna gear, easier to achive a top tier gear set but 0.1% worse if your trying to put in serious investment. I also love the fact you brought up level 13 loot and its potential synergies with existing loot. I think its the real highlight of the coming expansion and am excited to upgrade my heroic gear to complement my sharn sets (I wear mine to 30 like you mentioned so big plus 👍) Gear, loot and tetris all very exciting! I cant wait to see all the work the developers have been working on and hope all of the quests will be a fun and unqiue 😊 The raid too!
The set augments with sun and moon do provide a great alternative to just grinding forever for the last remaining piece to complete a particular equipment set, though depending on how difficult it is to get the particular augment one is looking for it could still be a grind. But if the augments are not BtC/BtA and auctionable it could be easier. If expensive. 😀 Great video Axel! I wish I had time to play more now instead of being a semi-retired super casual. 😕
Nice video i am gonna presume many of these new named items with Sun an Moon slots can also have the old style colors as well since the older expansions items with sets can and most do have aug color slots , this could be nice for organizing what you want in certain spots .. here comes new spread sheets lol
Two questions: Are they selling the power they took back since the lvl 30 nerf from 3 updates ago? or is there any new spell or new way to play DDO? (instead of killing the stealth playstyle or anyother?) they said that the nerf was to control the lag because the numbers were too high but at the time they even nerfed the silver longbow that was a lvl 6 or 8 item from 2007. Are they giving players more space to hoard so much more itens at endgame? for every item they launch they should give players more inventory and bank space so players could collect them.
So what they released is very much along the lines of what I wrote as a reply yo your loot poll! I'm glad they made this loot felxible without the typical Armor/Helmet/Cloak set requirements. Many of us use suboptimal gear to fill in the gear Tetris, and it sounds like this stuff gives players a way to complete their gearsets without everyone needing that ONE decent item for that slot. It's not customizeable like I had hoped, but at least its not yet another redundant set that overlaps the others.
Gear Tetris is the main reason I stopped playing the game...that and the TR Caches/Storage stuff. I still follow the game and watch videos, but everytime I get the itch to play again, I remember that I am currently halfway through a life that I wasn't particularly enjoying, and finding all my gear for my favorite builds is such a chore.
@@AxelAlexK Midday tues-thurs (especially when the game is down all day weds) is such a short, awkward time, and they don't really announce them in advance... it's like they don't WANT us playtesting thing lmao.
I wonder if the sun/moon agument system will only appear on the named item in myth drannor or all the gears after U69, so that we can define our equipment in combination with house C crafting
Definitely, as another commenter pointed out. The opportunity cost of using set augments will go way down since they won't be costing you the inherent set bonus of the item they are placed into. So it's a big buff by proxy.
I have some footage of 3 of the dungeons from the first preview but I typically avoid showing it on TH-cam before the expansion releases because I don't want to spoil anything for people. I've been streaming it over on Twitch though during the preview windows.
The sun and moon slots work exactly like regular augments. So you can take the augments out with jewelers tool kits or destroy them by slotting in another augment over it. Can only put sun augments in sun slots and moon augments in moon slots though. As of now all myth loot comes with one slot total of either sun or moon, with the exceptions I mentioned in the video like shields which never have sun/moon slots. There's not a way to craft additional slots as of now.
The moon and sun stuff bores me. I'd rather see that they were orange or green so you could use these with older equipment and then perhaps add additional augment slots to the new stuff to entice people to invest in that grind. And since there are few items with orange slots, older stuff would mostly just fit green where as the new loot could have also the orange slot. And I honestly don't care if this is a system they might use later on. The time we've invested in getting loot from the past 3 expansions including several indebt crafting systems will be wasted here.
I just posted in the forums, For me the loot is all the same in the game. For me Myth Drannor should have some really unique gear, maybe code some new $%$# lol Open a dungeon master guide and look through the loot, - Doom Orien
@@villefere6968 I keep saying this too, they aren't at all on the level of Ravenloft anymore. Everything since it feels older and more basic, like there's a 'flatness' and a 'sameness' in all their content design, and I'm expecting nothing more than the same for myth drannor.
The golden age weapons have an extra .5w because of vorpal as you can see on the weapon screenshots. It's not another .5w on top of vorpal. I could have been clearer on this.
To be honest, I am totally against "meta". I think the good thing about the game is that it offers different endgame options with their respective sets so that a player can customize their character as they want. However, players have a bad habit of seeking maximum efficiency, which leads them to play a character that is not what they originally wanted, because efficiency is very far from fun and taste. At the same time, retro compatibility seems good to me as long as it doesn't become "meta" and ruin the experience, understanding that a metagame is generally something op. Which brings me to the next thing, that meta, op characters, completely ruin the experience by not needing healers, rogues, spellcasters, tanks, etc. They do all or most of the functions at the same time. And that makes many classes completely obsolete not because they are useless but because two bonuses can be accumulated.
I wish the raids were fun or well designed in this game. I dont even bother looking at raid loot because it would require dozens of hours of pure torture to ever earn.
@@villefere6968 I think they're fun :D Well, most of them. Some are definitely better designed than others. Lots of raids really aren't much different from normal quests other than allowing 12 people max instead of 6.
