    The NICEST kitchen I've ever seen in the 100s of campervan vids I've followed. The red gloss cabinetry to match car exterior very classy

    This is a novel idea! Like a teardrop camper layout. You get to cook outdoors with no fumes going into the car. On the bed side, you get privacy and shade and a huge bed. Smart layout.
    Your dog Fifi is the cutest. I have a mini Poodle too. Best dog in the world, so easy, no shed, athletic, curious, sporty, and the best personality. Fifi is adorable. Pity we did not see much of Bonny. Next time, please be in the video.
    This is a lovely build. Great tour, very nice family!
    There are a couple of things you should do:
    1. Make your bed support wood panels like Swiss cheese. Use a hole saw and cut holes all over. This will prevent mold on your mattress. This is a classic problem in vans. The air inside gets damp from bodies and over time, the mattress gets moldy.
    2. I would not seal up the window from kitchen to bedroom. Put bug screen on it. Air flow is very important. You can keep back slightly open at night and get airflow.
    3. IKEA sells acrylic mirror panels. Put some up over the sink so you can comb your hair and also see behind you if anyone sneaks up.
    4. 6:49 - This is exactly why you should NOT use a suitcase butane stove. These are very nice as a backup stove or a small kettle. When you put a larger pot on it, the flame spreads out and touches the butane canister close to it. That heats up and... KABOOM! They are not 100% safe. The butane canisters are not easy to find either, only at Asian stores. So keep it, but get a bigger two burner stove. I would recommend the Camp Chef Everest stove at 20,000 BTU per burner. Nice red color too. Cooks very fast, you can grill on it, and make two things at once.

      How many butane stove catastrophes have been happened?

    • @ronb6182
      @ronb6182 11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@joeaverage5347none. I never had any problems with the stoves. Explosions? Lie number one. You can buy the fuel at Walmart and Sam's club you cannot find the fuel? Lie number two. Must I go on. I will keep using butane stoves on trips for Ron's deli on the road. Actually when you remove the can after cooking the can is ice cold has condensation on it. 73
      P.S. you never put an oversized pan on any flame stove I don't care if it's your kitchen stove. I use a number 6 Griswold cast iron skillet. Makes good hamburgers and steaks. 73

    • @ronb6182
      @ronb6182 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I never had any issues with a butane stove. In fact the canister gets Ice cold it gets wet. I used cast iron on my stove. If you are worried about getting too much heat around your galley kitchen use the stove outside on a table. 73

    Instead of the back window, maybe consider no see-um screen mesh. That way you can get extra ventilation in your van for sleeping in warmer places and no glare.. Looks beautiful.

    One thing that was cool that we had was tent that connected to the side of the van. It allows you to dress while standing up and do other stuff and have extra sleep in space if you wanted too

    Be careful with that kind of stoves, putting the windshield too close to the canister with a big pot on the burner can heat up the canister and cause an explosion, do not encapsulate the canister too much. Beautiful set up and very practical, I love it. Thanks for the tour and all the tips, I absolutely love the fact that while cooking the bugs don’t get in, out in the Sierras we have meat loving wasps, they’re not very aggressive but they’re super pestering, they got one of my dogs in the nose, definitely don’t want them getting inside. Nice and efficient arrangement.

  • @Thrustql

    Remember, not everyday's a sunny day like in the video. cooking outside when it's cold, dark, or raining is not very comfortable. Having most of the stuff only accessible when you're outside of the van is not ideal, and I'd personally just have a kitchen inside my van or atleast a counter and a bench to sit and prepare my meals when it's raining. Besides that, this is a pretty nice conversion. You've done a great job.

    Gorgeous kitchen! I would add some wall shelves to hold spices etc when in use maybe. Also, a mounted fire extinguisher.
    Fir your dog, there are console pet beds that tethervto the headrests of the driver & passenger seats .. and if your dog is in a chest harness, tethered to the bed, he will not be injured in an emergency yard stop.

    Thanks again. I realize this post is old, but I had to thank you again as I now have finished mine. I have the kitchen almost exactly the same as yours. I did put a cooler in the middle section bottom with extra insulation. I installed a seat on one side which pulls out like the older trailers. I wanted somewhere to sit on rainy days when needed, and as I use a CPCP machine for sleeping, I need a battery, inverter, and DC/DC mppt charger. So a place to keep them. I am anxious to get going with it. UPDATE: Had my first 3 day trip with it. Everything worked well except the cold minus 1 weather. So when I got back I finished installing a 2K diesel heater. Now I can sleep through the night. Love it. I have since installed two 100W solar panels which fit exactly between the top rails of the van. Now I have alternator charging when I'm driving and solar charging when I'm camping. I added raised cross bars from VEVOR to hold my kayak in transit so it doesn't sit on the solar panels. Thank you again, I really appreciate the inspiration.

    Nice "Teardrop' or "Chuck wagon" configuration. Like that back window, however it does have a Drawback in that the kitchen is only accessible from the outside. There are times that would not practical. I would modify the design to give access from the inside as well by installing sliding doors which don't take up any space, that way you have access from either side. The other thing would be to move the sink to in front of the window/ pass-through.....that way you can simply reach through and fill up your kettle
    PS....You have given me some ideas 4 my own build.😉

But just as all of the other people that insist on building their kitchens where the access is only from the back,how are you going to cook when it’s freezing,raining,or just all round horrible weather…🤷‍♀️ And what about when you’re somewhere that you don’t want to or can’t get out and start cooking. I get the reasons why people do this sort of configuration but I don’t want to have to get out of my vehicle in front of God and everyone to cook a meal😉☺️
