Southern Nevada animal shelters overloaded ahead of busy Fourth of July holiday

- Officials have asked good samaritans to help find a lost pet's home instead of heading to shelters to help assuage overcrowding ahead of a busy Fourth of July holiday and record amounts of animals coming into facilities nationwide.
Sad to say, people just can't afford to have a pet anymore. Pet rent is one thing, of course, but so is the price of food, toys, that bills, etc. Most people are heartbroken if they have to give up their furry family members, but today's inflation makes it almost impossible for the regular person to afford.
I would never turn my 2 girls back 2 that horrible animal foundation never they are a kill shelter also i don’t understand why people don’t bring this up also

I actually was at the Animal Foundation yesterday, and my heart feels bad for some of them, there’s a mass influx of Pitbulls which can be hard to place, especially in rentals

@@apara2005 very true, unfortunately. My heart goes out to the pit bulls that are there, which is a lot. And they are very hard to place for rentals. I just providing information of my experience while there.

I don't understand why apartments charge a pet deposit on move in and then a pet fee per month. They don't charge kid deposits and monthly kid fees yet they do the same if not more level of damage than the pet does.
In the early 2000's I paid a deposit of $100 for each of my 3 pets to move into an apartment, two cats and a small dog, less than a year later they started charging $50.00 per pet, per month, for rent.
So for you pet and child are same???😂😂😂 If you have to talk about talk aboyt pet don't compare them to kids. When your house on fire someone criminal break in, wanted some medical assistance would you call cops, firefighters, doctors or dogs??
My apartment did the same. $500 deposit plus 50 bucks a month on dog rent. I don't get dog rent!!!
@ssri1675,You need to educate yourself before making such a ridiculous comment, there are many dogs that save people from fires and many that protect their families from intruders,why would I treat my dog any less than my kids?they both feel pain both bleed except one has to legs while the other four.Educate yourself!!!
It should be illegal to charge extra for pets to live in a rental unit or deny someone a place because of their pet
For those with pets without microchip, you better do so before they get lost and after the Aug law.

Wednesday, July 3, 10, 17, 24, 31
Thursday, July 11, 18, 25
Friday, July 12 and 26
Saturday, July 6, 20, and 27
QUESTION for AF....WHY is a pet(dog or cat) in the shelter OVER a year and still IS NOT FIXED>>>
So, you wait to get the pet>>>>> 4 hrs. or MORE just to see that pet. Get the pet>at less two day to a week...THEN have to pick them up>>>>Be there to pick them UP WHEN They say..... MOST of the overcrowding issue right there.
Most people can not take of work for all that.....
Make adaption and seeing pets simpler. and fix the animals when they come in not months down the road.
Everything is so expensive for pets that quite frankly I just can't see myself taking that on......
It blows my mind that people's animals go missing and then they don't go looking for them.

Landlords that have good tenants need to work with their tenants and not raise pet fees. Owners need to realize their pets are family and should be cared for for life. Adopt don't shop
Outlaw backyard breeding ,puppy mills and online sales. Mandatory microchipping and free neutering vans visiting poor areas. It's a solution.

Some people are just lazy, our apartment allows pets, pay extra, however people let their dogs poop 💩 everywhere, don't clean it up, cat's, their apartments stink like cat poop in the halls. When they move out it's been a nightmare, some cat owners pour dirty cat litter in toilets, poop 💩 from the animals left on the carpets, they are now going to no carpet because of animals. Others own cat's and dog's, but can't afford vet bills, so they never get vaccinated. 😢 flip side, to landlords not wanting animals anymore, lazy people ruin it. 😢😢😢 it cost $$$ to repair after they move. 😢
Also don’t make people show up at 8:30 am when it’s 108 outside you can’t drink water or you lose your spot it’s absolutely ridiculous 6 hours 2 adopt a pet you also have 2 pay 4 most there shots
