So comforting to be listening to designers like Sir Paul Smith, you can tell from the way he talks about things that he has a deep romantic relationship with creative thinking. However, you can also hear from his speech that he knows there's a need to translate the thinking into a common visual language in order to communicate with the market. It is not the most profitable way to run a fashion business and thus he might not be running his corporation like the way he presents himself in the address, but some part of me wishes the industry is more like this. Great address!
BRILLIANT! WHEN he decided to give gifts, I so wanted to be in that audience cuz i wanted a souvenir-- a physical embodiment of this marvelous human being. I have to say that because he's a special man, I think he has a leg up. YOU can see he's a simple man. HE'S a humble man. AND he's from a solid background with a loving father who was long lived and loved by his friends and his family. I believe Sir Paul carries on in the same tradition. IT is people like him that give you hope and although young people-- by virtue of trying to survive in the age of technology dictatorships-- would be 180° away from where he's at, maybe, as he said, because there's just so much; too much of everything out there such that it is overwhelming and no longer enticing --that the new generation will come around, going back to the roots of what would probably be their grandparents way of living and in so doing-- exhibit humility; simplicity; and steadfastness. HIS business advice is Brilliant and his fashion advice is Brilliant and I hope that that helps those young people to want to follow in his footsteps👣👣 despite the times they live in.
Funnily enough I came across this vid today as I was wearing my Paul Smith cufflinks which I have not worn for ages. I also have a pair of Paul Smith sunglasses with the „Never Assume“ slogan engraved on the inner side of the frame, something I took to heart. Enjoyed this one a lot.
Funny and interesting to watch....... but...... following his ideas, advice, perspective would mean ( in his own words) 'reading yesterday's newspaper'.
He may be a genial person, but I found his response to the question relating to the environment thoroughly depressing and underwhelming. I'm sorry, but the "we're trying our best but there's nothing we can do" line simply doesn't cut it for me. People at the forefront of industry like Sir Paul Smith should at the very least be investing more profit towards R&D to attempt to come up with solutions to what is the greatest challenge ever to face mankind. He said it himself - his business attempts to create things we don't need. I think working towards a future sustainable world which can be enjoyed by ourselves and future generations should receive a greater priority than erecting a rather pointless enormous pink building. How about devoting "Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday" towards saving the world. The planet is dying.
Well, the greatest challenge to mankind it the idiocy thinking that we are killing the planet or that it is dying. Earth/Nature can claim back what has been taken from it and worst case scenario it will take our lives (natural disasters etc) when we push it. Earth is not burning or bleeding as lots of green party members may propagate. Please educate yourself on this topic and stop following blindly what the mainstream media proclaims - there is always an agenda behind it 🤨

i've always really admired paul smith and his designs but the quality of his clothes are not up to par, not meant as a diss but i've owned a-lot from him and they fall apart often

the more I learn about paul smith, I think he's no Vivienne westwood. Yeah, so he collects art and junk from yard sales and gets inspiration from world travel, etc. what is he doing to better the problems of waste in the industry? Its nice of him to share some tips with these dull college students. many people just want to become uber rich fashion designers, but they aren't true creatives.
