You can also set it on the 200m setting and shoot at 25 yards. Then set it to 100m and shoot at 100m to make sure it's good. Next time I re-visit my SKS's zero at 100m I'm going to try to use a larger target. I was shooting at a 3" orange one on a big piece of cardboard and it was time consuming to keep trying to bi-sect it with the front sight post each time. lol.
Set target for zeroing at 25 meters. Shoot 5 shot groups, 10 is better though. I recommend shooting at least 20 rounds first before making adjustments. Make sure you are comfortable with how you will shoot your groups and shoot the same way every time.

I think my rear ladder sight is crooked. It looks like its leaning to the left. I can actually push on it to the right but it shifts back immediately after releasing pressure

Hey quick question. Does that symbol at the bottom of the rear right mean 300m? Like if I move the slider all the way down towards the back of the rifle, it is zeroed for 300m? I always thought it meant it was zeroed for 50m when at the very bottom
Yes. It's the quick battle setting for 300m. It's was designed to be a quick way to reset your sight without having to look down at it or fumble around with it during combat. Zeroed at 100m your shots should land a bit high when switching to the battle setting, but if you are aiming center mass and popping off a few quick rounds, not a big deal.
Unloaded. Closed. Normally dry fire it. I keep the dry firing to a minimum. If you are worried about making the springs weaker due to leaving it cocked, in theory it shouldn't matter as springs get weaker from compression-decompression and not by staying in a compressed or decompressed state. It is an older firearm so get some snap caps if you are worried about breaking the firing pin.

I clean and oil all my firearms before storing them. I also put them in a gun sock because I've found it to be an effective way to help avoid corrosion. I see no benefit to barrel air exposure during storage. The less moisture to react with the better.

To have the rear elevation sight work as intended you should zero the front sight to a target at 100m with the rear sight set to the 100m mark.
Question, my windage on my sks need adjusted. I bought the tool to fix it, but here is the issue. My sks won't shoot good unless it's on the battle settings. It shoots fine up and down. So what I'm trying to ask here is do I make the windage adjustment on the battle setting? Or the 100m mark. Thanks

ok, but i wont be shooting up to 100m thats the thing. i am using this rifle as a deer hunting rifle. wont be shooting past 75 yards... and my 100m setting doesn't shoot straight.

Always remember, move rear sight opposite of bullet impacts, and front sight chases bullet impacts
The front sighting tool for the Polish PPS-43 also works to lower or raise the front sights on SKS.

Anything over 3 is just a waste of ammo and time let be honest
