My favourite part of this is that silence has a concentration requirement, so he can't go to sleep while he's maintaining the spell. Antrius just fucking with them at the end. I love him more every day.
Nixie wants to burn books, and the mage flaunts spell book in front of her. We knew where this was going BUT plot twist Nixie OUTSMARTS the mage and he burns his own book. Bravo Deerstalker I can say none of us saw that coming.
I love how Nixie pulled back the curtain for a second and schooled him on the nature of Tieflings and the irony of HER lecturing him on casting Fireball (an area effect spell) in an enclosed space... A focused Nixie is a very very dangerous Nixie!

Yes, you could prepare an action to charge the caster if they cast Fireball at you, but then if they *don't* cast Fireball directly at you, you've wasted your action. He could force his way in to the party to try and leverage the funds to remake his spellbook. He wouldn't say to anyone, but his real motivation would be getting real field experience like Nixie suggested :)
Wizards have high intelligence, not high wisdom. Wizards maybe smart but they are not wise, which should be a given how they usually seek out powers and knowledge beyond their means, often irrelevant of any associated costs that may come with that.

Free public libraries are actually a pretty modern concept. Medieval libraries were very different. You basically either needed a letter of introduction or to pay a hefty fee to enter. While you were there, you were basically watched at all time. Often scholars would come in for the right to copy books since this was pre-printing-press.

Nixie is smarter than she lets on. I thought she was being kinda ditzy, but when she didnt know the difference between her favorite spell and a cantrip? I knew she was leading him on.
In 3.5e, wizards and sorcerers tie for my favourite class. Yes, sorcerers get less class abilities (only getting the one ever, familiar st level 1) but wizards really only get 2.5 themselves (also level 1 familiar then the occasional bonus feat, at level 1 they also have the option to specialise in a school of magic which makes that school better for them but removes two schools as options to learn from). What I always loved about them though was they shared a spell list. The scorerer didn't have to lose out of some awesome spells just because they arent booksmart and the wizard could expand on their knowledge by dumping all of their money into going out of their way to learn every spell available, it evened out and pretty much came down to the naturally gifted that had to learn to control their gift vs the kid that had every advantage but had to earn their gift through hard work. It csme down to flavour and how I wanted to play. In 5e, its still flavour and how I wanna play, but I lean toward scorerer because I like the archetypes better than being forced to specialise, but I miss out on some fantastic spells because I'm not nerdy enough in 5e?
Assuming "Burning Blast" was meant to be scorching ray (or firebolt) it would've been better to swap his reaction Shield from her burning hands Shield does nothing to defend against burning hands but can stop scorching ray or firebolt as they both are attack rolls and shield increases your AC Meanwhile, counterspell would be able to still stop burning hands (as it did with "Burning Blast")

Nah, I'm sure that part was genuine. Intuitively she knows the difference, she doesn't know how to explain it intellectually.
Nixie plays. She's mischievous. She's forgetful, clumsy, and absent minded on purpose. Heck I see the horns.
I miss the old format, where it would cut to them sitting around the game table. Those were some of the funniest moments.
These are just filler episodes to tide us over between seasons. They'll go back do doing full episodes soon.

The wizard *can* cast anything, but still ends up casting fireball in every situation. At least, that's what Master JoCat recommends.

Assuming "Burning Blast" was meant to be scorching ray (or firebolt) it would've been better to swap his reaction Shield from her burning hands
Shield does nothing to defend against burning hands but can stop scorching ray or firebolt as they both are attack rolls and shield increases your AC
Meanwhile, counterspell would be able to still stop burning hands (as it did with "Burning Blast")
