you just gave me a toxic idea for how to counter those lava bucket magic trick loonies. If I just carry a stack of empty buckets and keep them in my off hand then eventually they'll run out of water and lava. Buckets only stack to 16, but it'll be sufficient.
My guess for the armor stand is to make it harder for them to break out, should they survive somehow, giving him time to get down there and finish them off
