      He want to going to Yogyakarta, well Bandung is interesting too, and the next day he could take the morning train from Bandung to Yogyakarta. That landscape is more superb.

      I was in Jakarta for Christmas when the terrible wave hit in the North, I transferred to Yogyakarta for New Year, but with a 4 hr. flight delay I should have gone by train a much better experience.

    I think the train route from Jakarta to Yogyakarta via Bandung is more scenic as the train passes across the mountains in the south

      @stephen kroll the train from Bandung to Yogyakarta is early morning so best to take train or shuttle from Jakarta to Bandung the day before, spend a night in Bandung, then the following day take the train to Yogyakarta. If we take the night train we won't see the view.

    Wow. Indonesian trains have come a long way since 1980! I remember wooden and rattan seats, and being able to stand in the vestibule and actually open the door and hang out!! This looks great. In Jogja, which exit from the train station is closest to the Tugu monument?

    • @xxxbbb1973

      Yogyakarta station (tugu station)

    • @TanRyan1

      The only exit way is in the south side. North side just for departure and drop off which is closer to Tugu monument. But the pedestrian way is quite wide after renovation now.

    • @unkown1467
      @unkown1467 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It varies from $10 on subsidize economy class (Progo and Bengawan train) until $40 on comfortable executive class (Argo Dwipangga/Lawu and Taksaka train). There is also a mid-range fare at around $20 on more comfortable economy plus and business class (Bogowonto, Senja/Fajar utama, Jayakarta train).
      Yes, there is some overnight trains from Jakarta, departs at 8 pm to 10 pm, from economy to executive class that can take you. It arrives between 3 am until 6 am at Yogyakarta.

    Travelled on it a few times. The coach TVs are a pain in the backside and ruin the whole experience. Also the smell of food is overwhelming and stinks. It's may be an orient express but it's not the Orient Express. I hate being bombarded by background music, other people's music, and TVs, and announcements.

      There are 3 classes: Economy, Business, and Executive with different prices. This is approximation from Jakarta-Jogjakarta: Economy 12 hrs, Business 10 hrs, Executive 7 hrs. For comfort please choose the expensive Executive class (around 20-25 US dollars) you won't regret it. Go to tiket.com for reservation or seat61.com for the tips.

      Dita Anggraini planning on going to Yogyakarta on October. Is it rainy season already there by October?

    • @bocahangon2423
      @bocahangon2423 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kristelle I am from Jogjakarta but now living out of town let me help you. As far as I know it's the beginning of rainy season which lasts until April. Usually rain falls not regularly in the beginning but will change to downpour in mid-Oct. Be ready with an umbrella or a rain coat which you can buy in Indonesia/Jogjakarta; they're cheaper. As in any tropical country the rain may last for a couple of hours then stops,. Basically it rarely lasts until 5 hours or more. I usually spend Christmas holiday there and rains most often fall in the evening although it also happens in the day. The highest rain occurrence is in December-February. Bring some medication from your country to prevent cold, cough, fever, etc. for preparation.

    • @bocahangon2423
      @bocahangon2423 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Kristelle There's a new executive sleeper's train starting from June 2018 but I don't know which route has the service since it's still quite new. The facility is almost similar to Business Class in a flight with touch screen TV and reclining bed. There's only one sleeper's coach serving long-distance route, such as Jakarta-Surabaya and Jakarta-Malang. The ticket costs roughly US$ 70-100 so I hope seat61.com has updated the info.
