Well done! La campanella is a risky one to perform as it is very prone to accident. A very demanding programme.

I like your performance. May I know what marks you get in your recital part? I am going to take it this year, hope I can play as good as you

La Campanella....i mean please refer to your own recording, the tempo and rhythm is a big problem

I feel like he shouldn't have put it at the end, he's tired and then has to whip out this physically demanding piece

it’s really not a big problem though. He’s actually performing it surprisingly better than I expected. You’re too used to world class people playing this piece. People like Lang Lang or Tiffany poon are world class people. They’re job is literally to make perfect their musical performances. Comparing him to world class pianists is quite a ridiculous comparison. Their musical expertise are sometimes even too advanced for the average or even people who are above average in musical knowledge and ability to catch certain mistakes in classical pieces.
He plays exceptionally well considering this exam is all done in one sitting. Despite the slower tempo, he still maintains great dynamics, articulation, and consistency in rhythm. You could actually tap along with the piece and find out yourself that the tempo is actually quite consistent for the most part. So, i’m not too sure what you mean by “big problem”, I would agree if you said it was a minor problem. Additionally, his melody is crystal clear. Lots of musicians, especially when performing this piece, make the mistake of making the left hand sound much louder than the right hand (melody) making the piece unclear. Since it’s quite a fast piece and jumpy, musicians also fall into the trap of timing the pedaling, which can make the piece sound blurry and mushy if done incorrectly.
There were definitely some lack of performance on some parts. Like maybe some crescendo runs can be smoother. And like you said, the much slower tempo on the second half of the variation of the piece. And of course, a much more professional evaluator can go on and on about this performance. But, these are definitely some minor mistakes. Keep in mind that it would be completely different if this exam is evaluated in a world class manner. BUT, this isn’t a world class performance. It’s an ABRSM exam. So, I would argue that his performance is actually very outstanding. You would be surprised how rare it is to find these kinds of performances if youtube wasn’t around. Even among people who are able to perform such classical pieces like La Campanella, it’s quite rare to see a lot of consistencies like this one.
