    Just started shaving with DE razors. Never go back to cartridge.I swap from elect.to wet, I have a very good Braun and feel sorry for not using it, but wet shaving is the way to go. I have to stop my wet shave product purchases getting carried away. I forgot to say your video's are great and informative thanks a bunch.

      Smart choice. DE shaving is much more agreeable to the skin. The best cartridge cannot match the DE for comfort and closeness, after technique and lather have been established, of course.

    I just got into wet shaving n it bought a van der Hagen butterfly double sided razor and I had tried the blades that came with it and no luck it didn’t get a close shave. I had to go back twice with another blade. I am going to try some Viking blades that my pops gave me n see how they will work. I do appreciate your tips for newbies

    • @RealTalkThomas
      @RealTalkThomas 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@palmiccz ah, but to be fair, I have never used a Persona, to my knowledge. I know there are a few different Persona blades, which do you prefer?

    • @palmiccz
      @palmiccz 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@RealTalkThomas To be honest? I never tried persona, its just that they are so popular! (But i have them in my bag now)
      I just started with wet shaving like a month ago.
      I bought Merkur Futur as my first razor and after 3 weeks i decided i need Feather ASD2. And it was a good try for me, i just love it!
      So, in Merkur Futur i have Kai blade now and its best yet. Previously best for Futur for me was Derby Premium, while Derby extra was not good fo me in it.
      KAI is also japanese as Feather and its also VERY sharp, but not so aggresive, they say that its because its a lot softer.
      In ASD2 i still have the first one Feather blade and its absolutely perfect pair for me. I never shaved myself so close with anything before without ANY razor burn.
      But yes, you have to take time with that, its not on one pass, but its definitelly not like some people saying that ASD2 dont shave. It does a very good work, but its Guarding your face from blade very well and you have to use rather 45 degree angle than 30.

    • @RealTalkThomas
      @RealTalkThomas 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@palmiccz I don't have the Future but I do enjoy Kai blades as well. In my last video I used a Kai blade, so that's a nice coincidence. I prefer Feathers just because I can typically get one more shave on the blade without it "dulling" and giving me a little razor burn (probably due to Kai being a little softer metal).
      As you said, whatever you find that works, giving you a great and smooth shave but no razor burn, that's what this is all about. Find what works and use it as a standard for future products. It took me several months to find my standard but everyone is different.
      I hope you have many, many more great shaves, brother!

    I got the Mitchell's Woolfat a few days ago, and I'm really struggling with it.
    I've followed lots of advice online and all I end up with a thing airy lather that dissipates quickly.
    I've tried loading with a drier brush, a brush wet but not dripping. I've tried bowl lathering, face lathering, but the same poor lather. Tried loading for in-excess of a minute. And my area has soft water (I read that some people struggle with MWF if they have hard water) so hard water isn't the issue.
    I've even threatened the MWF with violence and colourful language, but still no better 🤣

    Hey ken I have been watching some of your videos and some others about wet shaving and you guys convinced me to try it. Well first I tried a shavett because I have a beard and just wanted something to line up and shave most of my neck with well I tried that for about 3 weeks. I kept having trouble in my neck area around my Adam’s Apple always get like a rash with minor bleeding and most disappears after about 2 hours. So I decided to try a safety razor and it worked better on my cheeks I don’t cut myself anymore but the neck is the same thing no real cuts but just like a rash minor bleeding
    and then 2 hours later it’s gone. I’m using a Viking chieftain with a mild blade. Basically I’m wondering what type of blade I should use I have very thick facial hair with sensitive skin.

    Hey Ken,
    MWF is not really made for your style of lathering. The more you swirl on the soap, the more soap you'll pickup and it wrong thicken up properly. It definitely needs more water until it's dense and heavy and glossy.
    That's the lather that makes this my favorite soap of all time.
    I hope you'll give this a go next time.

    Ken, I recently picked up a British Rocket Flair Tip at an antique shop. I've used it a few times but without much to compare it to, I'm not sure how it would compare to the American Flair Tips. Where would you say it falls on the scale compared to the coloured tips?

    I started using Mitchell's Wool Fat when I switched over to using a safety razor, but my silvertip badger brush just will not produce a good lather, doesn't matter if I face or bowl lather. Seems like it is too soft. The only way I get it to lather is to use my old Tweezerman black badger that I picked up at the grocery store when I started using shaving creme 6 years ago. I guess I just need the extra backbone.

    Great shave Ken. I believe I have the friggin flu. It's a shame that you can't shave with that restored 1964 Gillette Slim adjustable. To the viewer who is having trouble shaving their chin, just repeat the with the grain pass and across the grain pass. That's what I do to get my chin and moustache area cleaned up with a straight razor.

    Ken💈💈 Nice shave, should have gone against the growth🙄 Yep, you know she'll find the stubble. Mitchell's takes a little work to get an excellent lather, but it's worth it😊 Polo and the burn..great👍 Enjoy!

    Next time you use that soap try to use a boar hair brush. I find that a nice stiff brush works best against hard soaps like that.

    Hot damn that is one fine looking razor!!!!! I’d love to get one revamped to look like that!!
    Also on the wool fat been holding off on buying it because on the forums read a lot about it’s harder to lather and use but you made it look like a piece of cake! Might get me a puck.
    Great shave as normal!
    Got some preshave oil I wanna send you to get your full thoughts on. Sent u an email. It’s best preshave oil I have tried to date!

    You got'ta love The Fat. I use it every weekend. Nothing else leaves my face so smooth and soft. I know a lot of guys have trouble lathering it, and it took me a little while to get it dialed in in my hard water, but it is worth it. The best prices I've found are from some of the English on-line shops. Even after shipping it costs less for me than ordering from domestic US shops.
