I'm very excited to buy one of these, I love the round front headlights and the star on the bonnet, and it looks muscular too, looks like the suspension is softer than A209... should this be the choice... not sure...

I think you're better off looking for a 1992+ era 300CE. They use late M104 which is a straight 6 powered by LH jetronics. Overall better balance, simpler and easier to maintain.

just starting to look the video.
the 208 is a great chassis. And the M112 is solid like a rock.the automatic transmission is one of the best you can have.
If the price is ok, you should buy it !
take it on a lift to look for rust.
the things you mentioned are easy to fix
but, I:m not objektiv, I simply like the 208 and 210 chassis 🙂

I loved it too, but I guess I can find a better example.

210 is probably the most rust-prone German car in modern history, at least according to what I saw growing up. Probably doesn't matter in AU, but I would avoid them. Luckily I don't have to, because over here in Baltics they have all rusted into pile of dust long time ago.

I am negotiating a 230 kompressor 2001 197 bhp in mint condition for around £1700 blue metallic convertible with all the trimmings

Yes, someone paid 3k for this (including auction fee) fix some of the issues and register will probably cost +8k.
