If the drone is under 250g and bought or brought on market before 2024 they have a lighter restriction. As a legacy drone under 250g you are allowed to fly in Open A1. Every drone over 250g are banned to Open A3. This ist still valuable but not in urban or areas with some people/buildings.
Thank you very much for the information you shared in the video. It is very much appreciated as I have just purchased a DJI Avata 2 Not realising I needed a drone licence. So now While waiting on delivery I must apply for the licence thank you. Regards Séamus from Dublin Ireland
Hello I have a question. How does this applies to an FPV drone that are not normally classified marked and what serial number do I use to register it. For instance, I have the GepRC tern40. How do I register it (under 250)
Mavic 3 Pro can be flown with A1/A3 as well, just NOT in urban environments. This was a “game-changer” when deciding to buy that drone. Just be aware that you can still fly with A1/A3 license on heavier models.
@@sureresource9150 I’m sorry to say you’re probably wrong. C2 (less than 4kg): Can be flown in 2 subcategories: A2 (up to 50 m from people) -> EU remote pilot certificate/“large drone licence” A3 (up to 150 m on humans) -> EU certificate of competence/“small drone licence” Therefore you can fly with A1/A3 just following the relative rules.
I'm in UK and travelling to Italy soon...I want to fly my Mini 2 in there .., which country is the easiest and preferable free to apply for a operator license? which certificate exactly do I need? The Luxembourg website is asking for 🆔 verification....how can a no EU member can apply then? Thank you
Hi, Things got complicated for UK pilots traveling to the UK since brexit. The rules that apply now are the ones for non EU residents. UK residents should should apply in the first EU country visited, although the Mini 2 is below the 250 gram threshold, so the procedure is simpler, as there is no exam needed. If the only country you are visiting is Italy, you should do you paper work there, through the Local authority, named ENAC: www.enac.gov.it/en
Hi, if you have registered and insured your drone in FInland you will be able to fly in Italy. Just check the local maps for restricted areas. Have fun and happy flying!
Quick question. am currently in Croatia, and I'm trying to fly my mini 4 pro. Every time I take off, I receive a large red circle on my rc screen, and I can not move my left or right. Would this be due to the restrictions?
Hi i bought my dji mini 4 pro a month ago. I am going to italy..do i need to do any extra test or licence to fly there? I already have operater and drone id from my previous parot anafi drone.

Absolutely, and thank you for the head up,
this is what I meant, but I believe that I phrased it wrong

I have a mini 2....so under 250g and bought - as drones go - ages ago and thus legacy. So A1 no problem?
Exactly,
a drone below 250 grams can be used in A1
Thank you, thats very useful, and very timely, as we have friends in Austria who we will be visiting in a few weeks time. Cheers 👋
Glad it was helpful!
I hope they will enjoy the trip!
Thanks, very useful!
Obrigado,
and congratulations for your blog. It has improved a lot!

No, this drone model, the DJI Mavic 3 Pro, is over 900g, it also requires an A2 license. That's what I flew when I was in the EU last week.

The Netherlands has a program in English, so that's where I took my training from.
Hi I have dji mavic mini , I have registered the drone and have E-ID and also insurance. Do I also need a drone license ? To fly 250g
Can someone help? Im coming from Finland to Italy and wondering do I need some special insurance for flying in italy?

Hello Iam
coming From India on a leisure trip , Can I Fly DJI Neo In Switzerland ? Do i need to register as a drone pilot or not ?
Your drone is less than 250 grams, no mandatory liability insurance. But it has a camera to record so you have to Register as a drone operator.

Could be you flying in NFZ or geofencing locked area. Check first on DJI maps and then on the Croatian maps.

Hi, I'm going to Italy tomorrow.
What did you require to operate your drone there?
