I've got one for you guys. Around 640 when Nick is talking about Yuta's crazy anti spin flower stall/change direction. Try this: Think 3D! I've been working with say you count the flowers like a clock. so a four petal flower there is a flower at 12, 3, 6 & 9. What Nick was showing was stalling at 12 and 6 then changing direction. But why not switch planes?! So do a four petal anti spin flower each side. Now horizontally stall each side(say 3 and 9 o'clock) and switch to horizontal planes!
You truely are a master at teaching. I have been spinning for quite some time, but have been following you for awhile aswell. No body can teach like you can. You really know how to explain it well. Thank you for all your videos, regardless if I knew the move or not. Just putting a video out there and explaining it so well really is expanding the art. When people ask me for advice, I usually give a different presentation of how you explain it and then direct them to you. Thanks Nick. :D
I've always loved watching these tutorials... and I can honestly say that i can see your own progression within your teachings... It seems that you continually get better the more you teach :D I have been having a problem with keeping my arm straight when it comes around on the backside of me for a flower... I think i'm gonna have to start them over with this tutorial... THANK YOU NICK!! BEST WISHES FROM LOS ANGELES!!
It works multiple ways as well. You can stall at 12 & 6 o'clock then switch to wallplane flowers. Or do a flower with petals at 1:30, 4:30, 7:30 & 10:30. Stall at 1:30 & 7:30 This gives you a great start to switch into alienjons "45 degree planes" From there you can start whirling as in nicks other video? Sorry just wanted to share some of the things I've been working on as of late. =)
I think "tiny revelations" is positively the best way to encouragingly describe but not deny each student an opportunity for their own achievements! I taught myself the basics many, many years ago without any sort of forum such as there is now to assist me in any way, shape, or form.. I wouldn't have it any other way though despite the bad habits & limitations I must defeat in order to keep up/move beyond as a result ;)
Sorry limit. Now after you stall and the poi lose their momentum spin around in a horizontal plane(Kind of how he started the video with the "door bells") Once in the horizontal planes you can spin around 180/360/ect then drop right back in to anti spin/cateyes/hybrids/ect. Or keep spinning as you raise your hands up above your head then preform a horizontal spiral wrap. Bring it back down, stall, switch to wheel plane and start over. Sorry guys I'm not great at explaining my poi theory
I can do my butterfly flowers (lil sloppy) but I watch you play with the most basic ones (flowers) and make me feel silly, def gonna try and stall at 12 'n 6 o'clock looks cool. Lol I think I need to come and take some lessons
I freakin love where you guys are taking the art!!! I love this vid too :) i wish i had seen it a lot earlier in my spinning-time tho; it would have saved a lot of confusion lol. Definitely beneficial for beginner-intermediate spinners. Thanks Nick!!

You have given so many people the ability to express themselves, you should be so proud!

Hey Nick, thank you for this tutorial! Is there a breakdown of the moves you do starting @4:44?
COME TO NYC!
i would kill for some kind of poi class like this in my area.
Is there a tutorial on the moves you start doing at 4:45?
... so... that (2:45) would be why I can do both hands independently (sorta)... but not together.
I see.
Such a simple thing... d'oh!
Come to Northern California :)
any new retreats planned? :)
No, these days I wouldn't know how to get enough people together
@playpoi if you build it. They will come.
G is already doing this :)
