My mother named me Laila (Layla) after this song. You cannot understand the connection I have with this song. How many people have sung this to me in my 22 yrs of living or how it makes me feel as it was made for specifically for me. I know it isn’t but I love to think it’s about me.
Just my opinion, but I think what makes this song (specifically this version) so perfect are a few things: the timeless name/idea of “Layla” (could be anyone/anything); the swampy, rolling melody (akin to Fleetwood Mac before Buckingham/Nicks); the walking nature of the lyrics; a tune everyone can sing and hum; and a class act, relatable writer like Eric. It serves not only as a time capsule to millions, but a song that future generations will undoubtedly come to love too.
What will you do when you get lonely? No one waiting by your side You've been running, hiding much too long You know it's just your foolish pride Layla, you got me on my knees Layla, begging, darling, please Layla, darling, won't you ease my worried mind? Closing in on 50 million views...Eric is much loved. I know my life is made better just hearing his guitar sometimes...sweet dulcet notes, raging mad crescendos, diarrhea licks and oh-so inspired chord changes and mis-rendered renderings. God loves a madman and I do too. Bless you Eric, and Conor also.
Love this song, but that's extreme. You'll get burned out at some point, and don't hit me with the "but no seriously I love this I'll never bored" bullshit, it's going to happen, and you will remember me.
The original is the best. But I love them all. I named my daughter Layla, after the original. The acoustic version came out when she was a couple months old. She passed away in 2011...
I love them equally. This riff is one of the most iconic pieces of music ever written in Rock history. It also lends itself perfectly to an acoustic performance. That's a testament to Eric's incredible song writing skills, no matter what he's like as a person.
Magnificent!! All the songs about Layla are so incredible !!) Super !! By the way Leyla means-dark night ) I pass by these walls, the walls of Layla And I kiss this wall and that wall It’s not Love of the walls that has enraptured my heart But of the One who dwells within them Nizami Ganjavi " Layla and Mejnun"
Aryadeep Dutta Layli and Majnun"(in fact she is Layli in Nizami"s work) is not Indian love story ,it is an ancient Arabian love story and first time that was Nizami who has brought this love story to the literature and then other medieval poets wrote their own Leyli and Majnun stories .. Nizami Ganjavi was born in Ganja ,in Azerbaijan who had Turkic origin ,but he wrote in Persian as at that times persian language was the language of literature .. On the basis of his works the Azerbaijani composers and art workers wrote many operas and other works ....It was the great Azerbaijani composer Uzeyir Hajibeyov who firstly wrote opera" Leyli and Majnun" in 1908 and by this event not only in Azerbaijan also in Muslim East was founded opera.....The other prominent Azerbaijani composer Qara Qarayev wrote ballet "Seven Beauties" based on Nizami Ganjavi famous poem, Seven Beauties ("Yeddi gözəl") .... But " Kalila and Dimna" an ancient Indian fable-story written in Sanskrit from the motives of which Nizami used in his work "The Treasury of Mysteries") ..... I am agree with you that it is a great love story One should read "Layli and Mejnun" or watch opera Leyli and Mejnun to understand it deeply ... Thank you for your patience for reading my long answer))

What happened to that kind of music? The best most wonderful and pure music. I'll tell what happened: our generation came and destroyed it to its very core. And that's a shame. It's a shame that most songs these days won't become a worldwide hit unless they involve sex of some kind. And people should be ashamed of themselves for sitting by and letting that happen.
Its a different era... I think that those music from before 90ies would not be that special if same or better would be done now.. It would inflate the awesomeness of those masterpieces.
i totally agree.this music had soul, and feeling.this is the kind of music that i like to play along with a guitar.today's hiphop and so called r'n'b is bullshit.its all about sex and bitches and ho's and niggas and motherfuckers blaa blaa ect. because sex sell's,but it has no feeling to it.u think justin bieber would sell so much if he wasnt so good looking.but this music(clapton, hendrix, stones, led zep, ect)it will stand the test of time, and that is the only TRUE test.!!plus these guys could actually play their instruments.nowdays music is made with computers.
Do you think there is anything you can do about it, instead of just complain? sure it feels god to complain, but is there anything you can do like maybe introduce some youngster to this music? inspire someone to create this kind of music.
My family yellow lab was named after this song. This is the first time I am listening to this song since she passed away (November 20th, 2017). R.I.P Layla girl. We love and miss you baby. "And like a fool, I fell in love with you. Turned my whole world upside down."
My name's Rhiannon after the fleetwood mac song, Rhiannon. In august ill have a daughter named Layla after this Eric clapton song. :). I love this song and i cant wait to meet my little Layla.
The acoustic version is like its own separate masterpiece. Gets stuck in my head for days at a time. Never gets old.
For sure! Two different songs. Sending positivity.

*Oasis* made a good song called *"Lyla"* too.
My dad named me after this song …. He killed him self this year… i hate this song now and also the name

You should look up the Arabic legend of Layla and Majnun, that's where it comes from.

Long live the master that created the genre all of his own,,,, salute to both versions💙
Best version of one of the best ever pieces of music
Cleans my brain from bullshit.
what
This song certainly has the 'chill out' factor!
+Mr. Noone Stop listening to BS in the 1st place eh? Problem solved mate.
I'm new generation :D. You can't do nothing with it.
+Outsider Yeah, I agree!
Bless you Eric, and Conor also.
been listening to it for 8 hours straight, almost 9 actually, still not bored. Masterpiece!
the guitar solos on this version and the original can nevet get old.
same
yesSss foR DaaYz!!
Love this song, but that's extreme. You'll get burned out at some point, and don't hit me with the "but no seriously I love this I'll never bored" bullshit, it's going to happen, and you will remember me.
Robert Robaya
I love both versions of this song but this is the one I listen to when I’m in chill mode💯🎶💙🔥
such a beautiful song, even through the struggles with my father, i know he will always try to make me feel better by singing this
except he would change “darling won’t you ease my mind” with “stooppp cryyyinggg”
Anyone listening this in 2024????? 🎉
The original is the best. But I love them all. I named my daughter Layla, after the original. The acoustic version came out when she was a couple months old. She passed away in 2011...
This a sad comment, in one of the greatest songs ever. If i may ask, what was the occasion of death?
Costas Vassilikiotis fell out of a window probably
Shawn West NO NO NO NO NO NO *Cries internally*
Oh damm
*****
Thats what happened to Clapton's child. Thats why, even though that comment is fucked up
Always loved this...the speed medal version, as well as the accustical! 👏
Yeah. I love all speeds.
The audience screams are there to remind me that this is a live performance...such quality wow 💯
Ciao..da.by..gio..sss.primo..group..Milano.. italy..
This is THE BEST VERSION in my opinion!
there is but one word to describe this version of this song...perfect
I love this version waaay more than the original. more sensual
me too
they are both good both have a different mood to listen to this version a good laid back kind of buzz
I love them equally. This riff is one of the most iconic pieces of music ever written in Rock history. It also lends itself perfectly to an acoustic performance. That's a testament to Eric's incredible song writing skills, no matter what he's like as a person.
it's much more soothing and cool I think. good taste in music dude.
i love juuu tuu
Love it! I can’t stop playing it!🇻🇪🇬🇷🇺🇸❤️🎶🎶🎶
Magnificent!! All the songs about Layla are so incredible !!) Super !! By the way Leyla means-dark night )
I pass by these walls, the walls of Layla
And I kiss this wall and that wall
It’s not Love of the walls that has enraptured my heart
But of the One who dwells within them
Nizami Ganjavi " Layla and Mejnun"
Паааааааххх))) Эле бидирсиз анчаг сиздерин адына махнылар йязыплар))))))))) Сен буна бах еее))) Shami - Гуля (трек под заказ)

The concept Layla stands the for the love he had for his love....its basically a Indian great love story...layla majnu...
***** absolutely correct it is this love story that inspired my daughters name
I haven’t heard this song in so long!! So glad I found it again!
this great singer and music will never die...never!!
I've listened to many live versions of 'Layla' and this acoustic performance is perhaps the best!
Love
So good it matches the original Layla
*is the best
It makes my head swinging left and right slowly and take my breath really fine hearing this superb legendaries master of layla
What'll you do when you get lonely?
And nobody's waiting by your side?
You've been running and hiding much too long.
You know it's just your foolish pride.
Layla,
You've got me on my knees, Layla.
I'm begging, darling please, Layla.
Darling won't you ease my worried mind.
I tried to give you consolation
When your old man had let you down.
Like a fool, I fell in love with you.
You've turned my whole world upside down.
Layla,
You've got me on my knees, Layla.
I'm begging, darling please, Layla.
Darling won't you ease my worried mind.
Let's make the best of the situation
Before I finally go insane.
Please don't say, we'll never find a way
And tell me all my love's in vain.
Layla,
You've got me on my knees, Layla.
I'm begging, darling please, Layla.
Darling won't you ease my worried mind.
Layla,
You've got me on my knees, Layla.
I'm begging, darling please, Layla.
Darling won't you ease my worried mind.
[Guitar solo]
Layla,
You've got me on my knees, Layla.
I'm begging, darling please, Layla.
Darling won't you ease my worried mind.
Angelina Taylor Thanks

I respect this man,Artist,a great one,he doesn't just sing,he feels and gives these feelings to us
What happened to that kind of music? The best most wonderful and pure music. I'll tell what happened: our generation came and destroyed it to its very core. And that's a shame. It's a shame that most songs these days won't become a worldwide hit unless they involve sex of some kind. And people should be ashamed of themselves for sitting by and letting that happen.
Its a different era... I think that those music from before 90ies would not be that special if same or better would be done now.. It would inflate the awesomeness of those masterpieces.
Maybe you should listen to Ed Sheeran's "I see fire"...
the illuminate, thats what happend
i totally agree.this music had soul, and feeling.this is the kind of music that i like to play along with a guitar.today's hiphop and so called r'n'b is bullshit.its all about sex and bitches and ho's and niggas and motherfuckers blaa blaa ect. because sex sell's,but it has no feeling to it.u think justin bieber would sell so much if he wasnt so good looking.but this music(clapton, hendrix, stones, led zep, ect)it will stand the test of time, and that is the only TRUE test.!!plus these guys could actually play their instruments.nowdays music is made with computers.
Do you think there is anything you can do about it, instead of just complain? sure it feels god to complain, but is there anything you can do like maybe introduce some youngster to this music? inspire someone to create this kind of music.
One of my absolute favourites, this song ❤️
Comment autant de personnes ne peuvent pas apprécier ce chef d'œuvre!?
I know right?!
Tout à fait d’accord!
I'm Layla and I never get tired of people asking me if i've heard this song before 😎
His music is great. It's a pity he's a racist twat
Such Beautiful name!!!!!

I'm the person who asked about it especially toward my sister because she is named Laela (spell like Layla) too

My family yellow lab was named after this song. This is the first time I am listening to this song since she passed away (November 20th, 2017). R.I.P Layla girl. We love and miss you baby.
