EAST LAKE TROUT AND KOKANEE FISHING -4K- Trolling for trout & kokanee on Central Oregon's East Lake.

- Janina and I hit East Lake on July 18, 2021 searching for some trout. We end up finding mostly Kokanee. This was our first trip fishing this lake and had decent success including a whopper trout.

In East and Paulina you don't want to eat the trout due to high mercury. However, the Kokanee (they say) don't live long enough for their level to be too high.

@@scottmcgill2133 so I take it Paulina’s fish are free from mercury? I haven’t fished it myself.
Honestly I would look for a better trolling set up I’ll give you some info that might help you use a sliding sinker clip to a bead chain and bead chain to dodger and dodger to lure if your fishing Kokanee I Suggest a Hoochie with corn
and a 2oz or 3oz cannon ball weight to clip

Yep! My 16’ Willie. A great river boat, not so much on lakes. We get blown all over. We actually went boat shopping today! I want a lake worthy boat.
@@RAGEFISHING nice. I always thought if I got one boat it would be a drift boat so I could salmon fish AND take it out on lakes. Sounds like they are adequate on lakes but tough to manage. Thanks for the info! Hope you found a great boat today!
@@CascadeBackcountry Drift boats work on lakes, but it’s a challenge for sure. We learned boats are in short supply right now, it will probably be next year before I pull the trigger on one.
