Thank you for making this amazing video, with opinions so well organized and intention cleanly stated, and I really hope riot can see this! I've been playing this game for more than 10 years, and my time of grinding LP belongs well to the past. Now I just wish so hard that we will have a PVE game mode that we can play frequently (or even better, regularly). The fact that a great content creator makes a voice on this matter almost tears me up. Thank you again for making this video, you have no idea how much I appreciate this!

I'd be interested to see if the Asian market has the same opinion about the state of League or if it's just NA/EU. Cause it seems Riot is gearing a lot of its decisions towards appealing to a market that's more grindy, hyper-competitive, and loves skins.

It's the small things, and riot has really been lacking on the small things. Why has Ahri's ASU taken over a year to create, only to be delayed? Why haven't they communicated more than 3 times the total progress of this year?

@@Levi_Ackerman_005 let's say it takes 5 minutes to make sure each champion is visible on the map. Now multiply it by 160 and then let's be generous and assume each has 5 skins (which we know league has more than 800 skins) it's 70h of work just to test it so 8 days of playtesting it to make sure all skins and champs are visible. Go and try to do it

    • @Levi_Ackerman_005
      @Levi_Ackerman_005 2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

@@rajder656 you are just proving my point though, of those 950+ skins and champions, you need to divide it by 10 which is 95, why? because you can test 10 champions/skins per game, and that's assuming you only have 10 people working on it. So you are basically testing 10 champs/skins every 5 minutes, and by simple math (rule of three):
      If 10 champs/skins...... take 5 minutes
      950 champs/skins....... take 'X' minutes
      (950*5) = 4,750
      4,750/10 = 475 minutes (AKA 8 hours)
And this AGAIN assuming you have 10 people working on it. "it's 70h of work just to test it so 8 days of playtesting...." Plus 8 days of playtesting is not that wild for a game as big as League, considering that they DON'T have only ONE employee, so yes it's definitely doable.
I typed all of that and I realize that I was doing it wrong, is not even 950, it's 95. Which actually even proves my point even more.
And you are saying 8 days is "a lot" of playtesting... guess what? how long does it take a patch to appear on live servers AFTER it was on PBE (which PBE is literally for playtesting)? Sometimes a week (which is the bare minimum; not counting hotfixes because they need to come out as soon as possible hence the name hotfix), or sometimes 2 weeks or more depending on the patches. So 8 days of playtesting actually is nothing.

it s the 100000. video about league dying but it ll never die because it s competetive and online which you can easily play with your friends. it doesnt repeat the same thing over and over not every match is the same with an old one and it makes you feel competetive feelings which kinda triggers you to keep on playin. skins make you feel more important and kinda special same for the masteries. we are addicted and we wonder how the games and the players are doin even though some or many of us have stopped playing. it s fun to watch because it s not you that suffers while you watch. league has a big base community and people dont really want to stop quitting just because they tilted. i stopped because i have some things to do and it affects my whole life so i quitted.but some players are still playing for a bit of fun or for competetive reasons such as streaming and esports or illegal stuff. league always gets updates and it gets some things on the name of LoL (but never in the game, we know what happens inside the game it s shit). as conclusion we are just addicted and probably wont let the game go of our lives

Having another "teaser" leaning over us once again would just be more aggrivating.

League feels awful to play right now, games are decided by the 10 min mark, there's no point in putting in the effort to comeback, you waste less time going straight into the next game and flip the coin again. Champions scale way too easily, perma gank junglers have no punishment on constantly ganking a lane and neglecting jungle camps, top laners don't care if they go 0/20, they still get tanky and with enough mobility they can just perma split with no drawback, depending if the coin flip on draft was in their favor. This is a concurrent vicious cycle that affects games below high diamond, players don't understand macro, don't know the limits of their champions or how to play them, there's simply too many mistakes to be commited by your teammates at any given time frame of execution where you as a single player can't control. The game is simply toxic to play right now, anyone who plays any role except jungler doesn't have any fun or agency while playing the game. When I end a game I don't feel excited I won, I feel relived it's over.

The balance it wack and they aren’t proactive enough with changes, and anytime they do something cool with skins and such, I don’t want to use them because the balance team lacks. People also started listening to Tyler1 and other creators, but with the wrong context. Like, people use the valid complaints of their favorite creators to just hate anything Riot, but that doesn’t help anything. They’ll see Rioters in game and treat all of them like they are the balance team. Riot is a huge company with a LOT of different teams, but a portion of the community can’t grasp that.

You are a sheep if you think you'll be able to change anything just by complaining a little and then still just continuing to play the game and do everything the same. If we want to actually save the game, then we need to take radical steps towards it, such as the death threats you mentioned, we need to show riot how much we hate them, and treat them the way they treat us. Boycott them, harass them, threaten them... just do everything in our power to make them annoyed, upset, disturbed, etc.

Decided to play a match after six months and was the worst mistake I made. I was able to outplay my opponent and my jungler refused to help but saw that my laner was low and wanted to KS. Got first blood and the jungler had a mental breakdown because I did not give the kill to him even though I was the one who rightfully deserved it. Dude raged quit and had to ff at 15. Haven't touched league since that time.

I've personally found League a bit hit-or-miss since the Mythic items. It's trivialized most builds - and you just NEED to buy one, and in some cases it feels bad.

Damn, this is some quality info feed! I like your optimism as I've been dipping my toes into this game since I quit mid-season 6. However the optics are quite damning - I think it's painfully obvious that Riot's management considers LoL a done game that's been developed enough and is now brought to a state they're more than happy with - just bringing them the quite comfortable passive income from skin sales. If you look outside of LoL's sphere and consider the broad picture of the online PC gaming industry, it's pretty clear Riot's ambitions are conquering a significant chunk of that with their upcoming projects - especially their MMORPG

The game back then was slower paced by design, not as much mobility, true damage, % health damage existed, you could actually Solo Carry Games, there was no turret shut down gold, no tower platings, Xp was distributed differently, no 1000 Gold Shut down that is given to you by a nonsensical system, Rift Herald did not exist to push in turrets, Dragons gave Gold not buffs, so no random factor there either, ap supports did not have that much Gold on their hands supports were actually that, supports, supporting. Not Senna as a 2nd adc, or Pyke with a Darius ultimate that teleports him around, Ap Supports, if played, did not have enough money to stack Ap Items only, they had to buy wards and Items to support their team. The annoying plants did not exist and champions were not designed so that some korean shoutcaster can scream his lungs out 5 Minutes into the Game in bot lane, seriously Proplay being such a cashcow was one of the worst things that ever happened for the Games overall health.

Did ultimate spellbook have any announcement at least half a year in advance? I dont remember that, I'm pretty sure if there was any announcement it happened literally just before the event happened, that's why I disagree that if they were working on the new game mode earlier they would've announced it earlier

The LoL we all used to love died a long time ago, what we have today is just a cash grab. But the game will never die because of the casual players, because for them it doesnt matter the game is broken, they will still spend money and thats what keeps this game alive.

It "taking time" to re-use old map suggest that the people who could do it quickly no longer work for the company. Wouldn't surprise me if the office is now 90% corporate types and 10% technical talent.

I think another problem might be that riot said "when we release game mode we lose players afterwards". What they don't realize is that these gamemode were the thing that kept us coming back again and again. I'm now a retired LoL player since years and I play TfT, so I know about LoL as I see the starting page and events all the time but there is nothing catching me. Even urf doesn't catch me anymore as I know they only release it for the purpose of catching retired players and I won't fall for that.
Sometimes you have to make sacrifices for the long term gain.

I am a new player and after reaching level 31 I think k the game is not meant for OGs - I tried ranked thinking I’ll get placement matches with other new people but ended up in a plat lobby twice then lost 19 ranked games where the game refused to put me lower than Gold 4 - I am so new to the game I think that it’s unfair for others to play with me- why can’t I play with just other new players? Unless riot hates new players and only wants a game with old players

After all the bullshit I’ve put up with since season 2 I’ve finally snapped and quit the game. Seeing how the company had changed for worse, and believe me riot used to be know for being very responsive and communicative. Everything that I loved about this game is long gone , dead and buried. All they care about now is new ahri/lux/akali skins and not about the game itself. They make huge amounts of money from league and can’t dedicate a team for events? Is that the company you want to support? How many more chances are you gonna give RIOT before you realise they don’t care. Next season will be better *hits copium* give riot a chance *copium hit*. If the only thing holding you to the game is addiction you should really “look in the mirror” and realise what the fuck you’re doing. Any other company pulling what riot is pulling at the moment would be scrutinised and would see a massive drop in playerbase, but the league community has been so whipped that they just take it. Barely anyone is having fun but everyone is still playing. Great strategy against sheep riot.

I think you are being over positive, its higly likely it was just a corporate response (damage contro) rather than an actual change of perspective. Also, I feel you are also having too much empathy towards their decissions, I sadly feel League is not fun as it could potentially be, nor Riot has the love and care for the game and its community ever since some years ago, just check at the changes: they state of the game looks somehow selfish, and that is really weird.

I've been positive about League for years. But this is it. This is the final season. The worst of it all is I know I'll stop playing once the welcome event from sea server launch and URF is gone. I can't expect anything from Riot doing League service. The game's future looks so bleak it might as well be a dead game right now. League is not leaving with a bang, but a whimper.
