I remember an interview with Chris Martin (Coldpkay singer and songwriter). He'd hears BTS were fans and there was these rumours about a collab. He said they weren't true, but he couldn't get the idea out of his head and found out if the were interested. Which they were and 'My Universe' happened.
Vocal line killing it as usual. If angels were real they would sound like them. the 3 rappers doing the lower harmonies. Jhope is a great singer, RM is solid and Suga surprised the hell out me when I heard it for the first time. Is it weird that I am proud of him for this ?
Of the three, Life Goes On is the most "unplugged" in the traditional sense of the show. They just had to get clever because of COVID and because of the types of songs they were doing.
If you look at the first few comments on this video, you'll find Coldplay saying, "Beautiful" in Korean. Through their collab "My Universe", Coldplay and BTS have become close friends. There's a documentary of Chris Martin going to Korea for the recording of BTS's parts of the song, when they met for the first time. It's so wholesome to see their mutual respect and admiration for each other. They've met several more times after that. They seem to always make time to get together whenever they happen to be at the same place. A dinner and conversation in NY led to Suga doing a remix of "My Universe" (Suga is an award-winning producer himself).
They also did a cover of "I'll be missing you" by Puff Daddy, Sting and Faith Evans on BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge. On MTV Unplugged they also performed their own songs but the one I personally liked the most was their performance of "Life Goes On" which has the same calm style as this Coldplay cover. As you may have already been told several times, to get to know the members individually I recommend "A Guide to BTS Members: The Bangtan 7" by Taylor Nakamoto. It's really accurate and quite recent. Omg, I love their cover of Fix You sooooo much!!! It made me cry the first time I watched this because this was when BTS still couldn’t perform in front of an audience and it was really hard on them since they missed their fans(ARMY) so much! It really felt like this song fit how they might have been feeling and really felt like a comfort song both for BTS and us ARMY. 😭
I found BTS late Oct 2020 and their MTV Unplugged in Feb 2021 was one of the first performance specials I watched, and wow did it hit me like a truck. I'd heard Fix You over the years but hadn't paid much attention to it, but when BTS sang it I started sobbing. I was not prepared for the emotion! They also performed Telepathy, Blue & Grey, Life Goes On and Dynamite, all tracks from their Nov 2020 album called BE, where all songs except for Dynamite were about living through the pandemic. Blue & Grey is a ballad about depression, and that performance also made me cry. All the performances are on MTV TH-cam channels and have cc subs. And yes! BTS are SO fluid in their musical range, it's amazing! It's impossible to get bored of their music because there's something for every mood. So glad you're continuing to give them a try with an open mind.
Went to the Wembley Stadium Coldplay concert on the 16th August. This was the second most touching song. More people were emotional with YELLOW. but this is GORgoUs.

Funny you mention "Bohemian Rapshody." They didn't cover that but when they played Wimbledon, Jin did Freddy's chant/scat thingie and the crowd lost their damn minds. It was only a few seconds but it's clear they're fans and may cover or sample something queen-related. Pluuuuuus when they released the brief teaser for "Butter," everyone thought it sounded like "Another One Bites the Dust" and Queen responded on Twitter. It's a long-shot but a colab may not be entirely out if the question.
I agree they could definitely do justice to Simon and Garfunkel. I’ve often thought a song I would love to hear them cover is Queen/Bowie’s ‘Under Pressure’.

That album's songs are all about the emotions BTS had felt during the pandemic, tour cancellation, and lockdown. 'Fix You', a song about loss, compassion, and caring, was a perfect companion piece to their own songs from the album and what BTS wanted to convey to fans during such a difficult time.
I like this version better too. & The Nirvana unplugged was amazing, it's probably 1 of my favorites. Subbed, you should watch the introduction to the 7 members by Taylor. It's long but we're here for it. I'd also love to hear them cover bohemian rhapsody and Simon and Garfunkel, vocal line would slay that. Wish we could make that happen 💜

I loved this version as well. Oh, yes, BTS performing Simon and Garfunkel songs would be absolutely amazing. They have Not done so to the best of my knowledge. Only 2 groups I know that have done Bohemian Rhapsody are Pentatonix (all A Capella), and a very unique version by Angelina Jordan on America's Got Talent. I can't really see BTS doing that one, but who knows. lol
