I can understand why they removed common duels, because in RDR1 you could just spam poker, purposefully get caught cheating, and then disarm your opponent for easy honour
@@AlqhemyA Not really. Greeting people in Saint Dennis was a pretty quick method to raise honour. In RDR1 you only had a limited amount of people round a table, sometimes only 1 person there at a time. The amount of time it takes to initiate a game and get caught cheating, doing the duel then having to go to a bed and go through the whole save animations to forward the time ....that time also adds up. Besides ...they could have just removed the honour gain altogether as opposed to actually removing a really fun mini game completely. The duels were absolutely awesome in RDR1. On top of this, I highly doubt Rockstar removed duels because of people exploiting ....since as in GTA V story there is a location just off the beach where you can dive underwater and pick up a briefcase worth $25,000 from a submarine wreckage .... immediately save the game and reload and dive underwater again to pick up another respawned briefcase for another $25,000 ....rinse and repeat. This has been a known glitch/exploit that existed since the games original 2013 release. And has existed in all following versions like PS4 and the more recent PS5/Series S/X updated versions.
@@AlqhemyA Depends on your play style. You only get $1.2million from the jewellery heist which only Michael gets. I like playing as both Michael and Trevor. It costs Michael almost $2million to buy the airport hanger and the helipad. The Rhino tanks costs $3million for each character. Another half million or so for the attack helicopter.
Wasn't really a duel on the RDR2 part, but I really wish duels would happen more often (like duel challenges from random people you'd find once you annoy them or if they are just looking for a challenge)
You can pick up weapons in rdr2 lol. I do agree that dueling needs a revamp, along with a story dlc (like a mexico + guarma add on, or fantasy undead nightmare 2). Too bad the online transactional gaming has ruined story DLCs forever
They they are mostly only on missions, there is one other time in Valentine, but no one challenges you for them. And music in RDR1 makes these duels so epic, especially the one with the whistling sequence. RDR2 just has some lame country music tune playing at the end of the gunslinger mission' duels
There's multiple times where you line up and duel folks in RDR2. Billy Midnight, Joshua Brown are a couple easy examples, but I know there is at least 5 or 6. They replaced the duel challenges from RDR1 with the antagonize duels (which you must do from specific distances). They aren't nearly as cool or flashy as the RDR1 duels but if you antagonize someone and then fail to draw they will gun you down.
Many people might disagree, but I also agree. I feel like the atmosphere, theme and everything else fits the spaghetti western feeling very well. Wish Epilogue in RDR2 carried that same feeling
RDR2 has all that, but richer. They're both great RDR2 puts RDR1 to shame in countless ways. I will concede that RDR1 has better ambient music and western vibe, and duels as shown in the video

The base game makes it very hard on firefights , but if tou cant yse mods to slightly increase damage and reduce bloom and sway , use high velocity or express ammo and it makes some difference
@@Donbros the cover system is really boring , i like to play more like uncharted , like using dual wielding and killing enemies on one side covering the other (not actually using cover but more like running behind objects , and then switching weapons as soon as one runs out , tacking people using knives dynamite , it's tough to pull it off but makes it so much more fun , occasionally using dead eye makes it feel like a badass ability instead of a rehashed feature
I really like the Rdr 2 duels way more. I actually dislike how in rdr1, you have to most of the times just unload your full gun into the enemy's head so you can have the change to win it
If you think that about RDR1 duels, then you never learned how to duel. If you wanted to duel on easy mode, you needed to wait until the letters "DRAW" popped up because the camera would be zoomed in closer on the enemy, which means you can better see where to exactly mark your shots. Your marker itself, being more visible, would better show the state in which you will mark a more accurate shot. Aside from this, waiting to drawl until "DRAW" popped up also gave you more time in dead-eye, too. Lastly, different guns do different damage. How much your duel meter fills up depends on the gun you are using, but mostly on marked shot accuracy and on which part of the body you marked. If you marked their drawing arm or gun, it's an automatic win.
@@DoppelgangerJ while it's true you can cleanly disarm the opponent, if you want to kill them you cannot do so with one shot, especially late game. It always felt sloppy of John for me to have to shoot them so many damn times just to win without disarming. I just wish there were more in rdr2

What i find goofy and unrealistic is you can kill the shopkeeper in duel and put 10 bullets to his dome and the next day you will find him in his shop still healthy and selling items

At max , rdr2 gives you 6 moments to duel someone , 4 legendary gunslinger, one random encounter in valentine , (theres another one in valetine but he passes put before the duel begins) and one is a bounty in strawberry

Hot take I think the duels in Red Dead Revolver are the best. There are some very tough duels like Mr. Kelley and the governor. but getting used to the system is very cool, and the stare down with the intense music playing is awesome. Maybe I’m biased towards the game but I think revolver does duels amazingly
It did other things better too. Ragdoll, enemy reactions on gunshots, a lot more voice lines for ambient speech for a protagonist, better ambient music, etc.
Single shot disarms are cool, but having to unload your entire gun into a guy for a kill is kinda lame tbh. RDR2 definitely improved on it in that aspect. One shot one kill. Way cooler.
You don't need to unload all your bullets into the enemie In rdr1 Pressing square or x will stop Marston from shooting more, so if you time it well you can only shoot 1 bullet even if you marked the opponent like 7 times

No they weren't. Rdr2 is easy to understand and reflex-based since you actually have to watch the other guy's hand movements. Rdr1 duels have an obnoxious "DRAW!" making so you don't even need to watch you opponent. Additionally they just feel less clean and satisfying than rdr2, since the rdr1 duel mechanics encourage you to get multiple shots to get a higher score than your opponent, while rdr2 only counts who lands the first shot. The result is a way too arcadey feel to the rdr1 duels where you pump your entire cylinder into the opponent like some kind of amateur, while rdr2 duels feel like a pretty realistic simulation of what they were really like, plus a single shot is always enogh to win leading to much cooler one shot, one kill kills that resemble the ones from western movies.
it kind of does have a feature like that by targeting someone and slowly pressing down your trigger button, but the way it’s programmed is really stupid

@lardusbirmingham7020 If you press square after the first shot, it will cancel the other ones, and you'll have a more cinematic duel.

There are some very tough duels like Mr. Kelley and the governor. but getting used to the system is very cool, and the stare down with the intense music playing is awesome. Maybe I’m biased towards the game but I think revolver does duels amazingly

I did have a regular duel with a guy in rdr2 when i walked into a bar and hit him on the shoulder then we dueled
That was not a duel you just antagonized him then shot him. The actual rdr2 duels are significantly better.

It is the one thing RDR1 got better.
It did other things better too. Ragdoll, enemy reactions on gunshots, a lot more voice lines for ambient speech for a protagonist, better ambient music, etc.

Single shot disarms are cool, but having to unload your entire gun into a guy for a kill is kinda lame tbh. RDR2 definitely improved on it in that aspect. One shot one kill. Way cooler.
You don't need to unload all your bullets into the enemie In rdr1
Pressing square or x will stop Marston from shooting more, so if you time it well you can only shoot 1 bullet even if you marked the opponent like 7 times
rdr1's duels are like a minigame, rdr2's duels are realistic like irl

No they weren't. Rdr2 is easy to understand and reflex-based since you actually have to watch the other guy's hand movements. Rdr1 duels have an obnoxious "DRAW!" making so you don't even need to watch you opponent. Additionally they just feel less clean and satisfying than rdr2, since the rdr1 duel mechanics encourage you to get multiple shots to get a higher score than your opponent, while rdr2 only counts who lands the first shot. The result is a way too arcadey feel to the rdr1 duels where you pump your entire cylinder into the opponent like some kind of amateur, while rdr2 duels feel like a pretty realistic simulation of what they were really like, plus a single shot is always enogh to win leading to much cooler one shot, one kill kills that resemble the ones from western movies.

Really wish duels were more challenging; enemies shooting within 500 - 800 ms, with the occasional elite 300 ms.

it kind of does have a feature like that by targeting someone and slowly pressing down your trigger button, but the way it’s programmed is really stupid
