If you drill air holes on the neck on the stove, below the pot stand you'll have less smoke. I love the secondary combustion! :)
Yes, as close to the opening of the chimney, like a gasifier stove. Works really well. I made one with 3 side afterburners
Nice job I like the way you made a door on the feed tube and a damper on the bottom to be able to have some adjustment on how hot it runs I will copy your design on my rocket stove I'm a retired machinist certified welder and fabricator I have had several family members and friends that would like for me to build them one now I got my template thanks for sharing

So first off, great build but confused on the large 'secondary intakes'..? Not really sure where you're going with that other than to use it as a base to put those toppers on, meaning why the height? Could have just drilled holes into the lower portion of the main burn chamber. Anyways, not condemning, trying to understand the scope for your necessity to build that into it in particular. Again, great build, certainly solid.

For the secondary combustion to work ,some holes are needed in the lower part of the stove,where the fire is...
The fire sits on expanded metal, air is fed from bottom. Side rails supply air to top secondary. Thanks
@@buildfixeat I understand that but you need to have holes near the fire for the woodgas to escape upwards mixed with air through the holes in the upper part where the are burned ...If you have no holes,you have no gas ,you have no secondary combustion,you have only air that goes to the holes in the upper part of the stove...
What made you design secondary air intake and why small holes and not a half a inch or more. Injoy the video, and I'm looking forward to seeing more
Well I knew I was going to build some attachments and wanted it to be as efficient as reasonably possible. The secondary burns those unburnt gases.
I used many small holes instead of one big hole simply because the most efficient wood stoves do it this way. Figured they knew what they were doing.

Which is maximum temperature reached ? A fan will increase it ?

Hello akbychoice, I assume your talking about the rectangles on the side of the 4x4? If so, this space is heated up by the fire in the rocket stove and draws outside air up into the secondary combustion area. I hope I've answered your question...if not please let me know. Thanks!
@@buildfixeat no I understood the heat risers. The parts you built on top after that slid down on the top before you cut the top off flush.

What gauge steel did you use, and is it 4 in sq?

make a propeller attachment instead of the grill that the heat spins around and move the heat out to the sides to better heat an area

I'm not sure, I was using off cuts. I buy material in 20' & 24' lengths. I would guess that there is about $60 of material in it, although that could swing based on steel prices that month.

Thanks for all your efforts but have tested the grate by cooking on it. I have a problem For the Prepper community and you & me Just for your FYI> if I may suggest a small improvement in the building of the rocket stove FYI the top piece where the pans and utensils go on top. The area has is not wide enough, I cant tell how many time my nonstick pans have fallen off the stove. Most rocket stove users are having this problem. Now the solution is can you put a round bottom wok on it and cook Beef and Broccoli? If the top resting place for pans and be widened and it can cradle all woks and pans 23 inches or larger than you have a winner. I am sending you a link from TH-cam, i hope you will enjoy it. Have no idea on these "secondary burners" or whatever they are called. What is the result you're after here? Just more added weight, more welding for nothing that is evident in the video. Wood goes in, flames come out the top. Why so dramatic?
It burns the gases not originally burned in the primary fire. Its more efficient, provides more heat. Thanks for watching.
Very nice! You may have mentioned this already, but is that 4" square tubing that you used? Also, i like the little handle at the wood intake cover. Did you make or buy that piece? Great video, thank you!

1. The square Tube is 4", 1/8" wall.
2. I made the handle. It is a piece is 1/2" round stock with a piece of 1/2"Sch80 pipe overtop.
