I do not like to come to the comments for this reason but this sermon while has a fountain of good teaching seems to be very dismissive of some Scriptural truths that I believe can be dangerous. 1. No generational curse: “‘The Lord is longsuffering and abundant in mercy, forgiving iniquity and transgression; but He by no means clears the guilty, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generation.’” Numbers 14:18 This makes it clear that there is such a thing however it can be overcome in Christ. 2. Pastor seems to believe that a believer is not vulnerable to the Enemy and his attacks: “And the Lord said to Satan, “From where do you come?” Satan answered the Lord and said, “From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking back and forth on it.” Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered My servant Job, that there is none like him on the earth, a blameless and upright man, one who fears God and shuns evil? And still he holds fast to his integrity, although you incited Me against him, to destroy him without cause.” So Satan answered the Lord and said, “Skin for skin! Yes, all that a man has he will give for his life. But stretch out Your hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will surely curse You to Your face!” And the Lord said to Satan, “Behold, he is in your hand, but spare his life.” So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord, and struck Job with painful boils from the sole of his foot to the crown of his head.” Job 2:2-7 God does at times allow believers to be tested by the Evil one and this Scripture warns us of exactly that, along with the example of how to handle it. 3. Pastor also seems to think that demons are not an issue. Dismissing the person who asked for help be ridding his home of what he thought was a demonic presence. Seeing that Jesus spent approximately 1/3 of His ministry expelling demons and said: ““Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father.” John 14:12 By Him going to his Father, was then able to send us the Holy Spirit, or someone who is sometimes referred to as a “helper” which was the source of Jesus’ power while He was here on earth as He never did anything nor preformed any miracle by His own might as God, He did so with the same source of Godly authority that we have today via the Holy Spirit in order to set us an example as to how we should operate once He leaves to with His Father in Heaven. This is in no way meant to be a criticism or written from anything less than a true to desire that we are all correctly dividing the Word of God in order that we may all bring glory to His name as shining examples of His love and mercy for all mankind.
I just wanted to put another perspective for you that you may not have thought about that may help with your feelings about your mother having a stack of clippings of people saying bad things. AsA mother, it would hurt my heart to see people saying bad things about my child. The more I saw the more it would probably make me angry. Which then would lead me to repenting and praying for my child’s enemies. My first thought was, she possibly had that stack so that she could be praying over those people because she loved you so much.
